I broke down and got the Hitch step from AMAZON

I'm in the bed weekly and with the new bigger tires it's
just high enough to be uncomfortable

Default Love it

I'm 27 and I use it every time I need to get into the bed. Its just nice to have. I have a bed cover and sometime I don't want to open it so I use the step to reach stuff inside the bed.

I wish it popped out easier.

That said, when I bought my truck, I didn't care whether or not it came with one. Now that I have it, I find it useful. It's a good seat too.

haha yes I find myself struggling with it when I'm in a hurry but whenever I slow down and just try to pop it slowly it works like a champ

I didn't think to much about whether or not I liked the tailgate steps when they first came out. I thought I would never use them at the time. After I bought my 2014 Limited by then I had added the lead in the britches issue and a few health problems that made the tailgate steps imperative if I planned on being able to get into the bed of my truck. The steps don't help the appearance but they are very practical and for some a necessity for some.

I had the tailgate step in my 2012 and didn't care for it. I had an AMP bedstep installed on my 2015. I like it much better. Less obtrusive and tailgate is lighter.

When i started looking for my 16 xlt I really didn't care if it had the step. The 302a package was a must and 36 gal tank a plus. I didnt even notice my truck had one until after the test drive and was still meh about it.
Now its a must have! Very easy to deploy and use. SWMBO is only 5'6" and she loves it.
For those complaining about the tailgate being heavy with the step I can tell you its much lighter than my 2006 silverado tailgate.
