Default Tailgate lock recommendations

Hey guys,

Saw a news article today about tailgates getting stolen quite often.

I guess its time to buy a lock.....

Any recommendations? I have 2015 SCREW with the remote tailgate assist. Thanks!

BTW I know about the Mcgard lock but looks a little cheap to me.....

So you have a factory locking tailgate and you want to buy a lock to prevent it from being stolen?

yes, i read another post where a tailgate was stolen even when it was locked.

"Both times my tailgate was stolen, it was locked... They popped the cylinder and unlocked it from inside the tailgate. This would have made it much more difficult."

In most cases if the tail gate is locked by any means and the thief wants it badly enough they will get it. I haven't heard or seen a fool proof tailgate lock yet.

I agree with your statements, if someone wants it bad enough nothing can stop it. BUT I think if they see a tailgate lock on it, that might deter them......Most thieves are pretty lazy.

Understood. I guess now that I have a tonneau cover, I have a false sense of security. I'll address this concern also.

Here is what I use. Simple and inexpensive. A little discouragement to keep a 30 second theft from happening.http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts/pi...ILTA89082.aspx

Cannot see lock until after they have popped the cylinder... If they do that work, a clamp is nothing.
