I had a Dee Zee years ago on my Ram, and it rusted on me, and I live in AZ! After having both, I prefer the OEM.
I don't know why Ford doesn't just install the parts, list it as an option on the sticker, and charge $150 for it. All I had to do was install the ram. Silly.

I installed the ford factory one and it works well; and is hidden behind the tail light. If you do as ChiefD described above it is pretty easy.
I am assuming you are in Canada, i order mine from https://www.eastgatefordpartscanada.ca/ as it was the cheapest place i found (local dealers pricing was outrageous). Also, order the two pieces separately; as it is much cheaper!

Good move. The OEM is much better in the sense that it is hidden behind the tail light. I had the DeeZee on my '07 and it worked well, but I was always worried about snagging something on it. Also, the bolt that holds the post in the tailgate can have the tendency to loosen if not installed properly.
My arms and legs are long enough where I was able to just pull the passenger side of the tailgate off, rest on the bumper and my leg while I installed the new bracket. Took me less than 20 minutes. Hardest part is getting the T50 tool to sit down into the pocket of the bolt well enough to grab. My opinion is the pocket is not deep enough.

from this below video, somebody commented that using dee zee in cold winter, it takes 45 seconds to open it. Is it true? Thanks

The only thing I dont like about the DEEZEE is mine makes a weird "whining" sound as the dampener kicks in.

Check to make sure you actually need the hinge. I think some of the trucks came with the hinge with the ball on but no shock. You can lay on the ground and look up by the taillight and see it. Mine didn't have it but worth checking real quick.
