I've had mine for about 6 months now. Works like new. Good thing about having an external piston is that if it ever goes bad, it'll take 10 seconds to replace.

I was worried at first that I might ding it up because it's external but after installing it I realize it's actually out the way.

Thanks. I didn't bother applying the mylar film that came with the set. Just made sure that all hardware was fastened properly and used some blue Loctite I had in the garage. Not sure if what came with it was just as good.

Just installed mine a couple days ago on my 17 XLT. Came from a 15 Lariat, so I was used to not have to support it coming down. Really pleased with the DeeZee kit so far. Wish I could figure out a way to have the tailgate open from my gob like on my old Lariat.....

Exactly. Mine is close to a year old and is perfect. I'm in and out of the bed often.

OEM here too. If the shock ever fails, I take out 2 screws to pull the tail light assembly off and replace it.

I had the POS DeeZee Tailgate assist on my old 2014. After the nut insert fell out 3 months later I vowed never to buy that POS again.

I heard they came out with an updated part, but I'd rather pay double for the OEM part.

Ordered mine before I had the truck, then put it on about an hour after I picked it up from the dealer!

Easy to install, its been on a month now and no problems. I did notice that the tail gate had moved a bit, so I need to re-align that but otherwise, its all good.
