Sync Connect Retrofit (in any Ford).
#3291
I just had a problem with Ford Pass not working on my own iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 14.3. I have factory installed Sync Connect.
I considered a factory restore of the phone but first I tried a bunch of random things between resets such as disabling screen time which acts as a firewall for all apps, switching iOS date and time manually to tomorrow & automatic in different order. I signed in and out of everything I could think of. I also hard reset the iPhone between all the attempts and functionality was restored to Ford Pass after a few tries.
Neilc1's Ford Pass app is still working with his 2015 Sync 2-equipped F150. He's on an iPhone 8 with iOS 14.2, Ford Pass App 3.14.0... so I'm starting to think iOS 14.3 is contributing factor. Apple's been on their privacy crusade and maybe the Ford Pass app developers tweaked a global background process for compliance sake and accidentally broke something as a result.
I know there are Android users who also have the same issues, but for those of you on iOS with problems, is it correct to say you are on iOS 14.3 and using Ford Pass 3.14.0?

So I’m gonna attempt to do this mod in my 18 XLT super duty gas burner. I’m trying to figure out how difficult it will be before I start buying parts. I did the sync 3 upgrade already. Anyone done this with my scenario? Also, I was looking behind the glove box for the test port I saw mentioned, and I actually did find a blank plug with 4 wires going into it but it didn’t look like the plug mentioned. Any insight? Thank you!
EDIT: added pictures of the only 2 plugs I found behind my rear seat.

Yeah, I too have Sync3, 3.0 and have made several updates to my truck (APA, ACC) but am lost as to what I actually need to do. I am starting with a 2016 Lariat 502a.
Do I need a tcu?
Do I need a harness?
Do I need an antennae?
Is there any hard part that I need?
These threads are awesome, until they get so long that they become confusing!

Sanders, Jwank,
it's all back there in post 1, and the couple pages that follow, but post 1.
Sanders, none of what your pictures show are for this project,
post 1,
Jwank,
Yes,
Yes, well maybe, post a picture behind your rear seat like Sanders did,
Yes,
and, hard part ?
making it work, especially as some here are experiencing recent app issues, above and beyond the usual "first time connecting" app issues,
read a few pages up,
and, post 1

I’ve read post 1 multiple times and I understand most of it. BGG was making harnesses but he’s out of stock for my application now, and I didn’t know if his harness would even apply to me since I upgraded my stock radio, APIM, etc

so behind the seat you need full time power, and network,
I am betting those are both power, possibly switched, for ??
or signal for switched power,
for, rear slider, amp, folding rockers, I'm not sure,
but they are not the factory ends you're looking for.
post one big picture of everything on that back wall, floor to window.
tell goose you're anxious, and I said hello.
he built mine

I have another theory for why it's not working for some of you,
The Ford Pass App version 3.14 changelog indicates 2021 Mustang Support was added. I'm thinking that the app developers added a bunch of 2021 model year images into the app and also removed what they thought were non-support model year images which is causing the app to render improperly upon launch and draw the interface buttons (Unlock / Start / Lock) out of frame, or, not at all.
For those of you who lost functionality, do you still see your vehicle and the buttons on the screen?
