Now I don't know what they're doing and I'm curious reading this what the differences b/w 1.1 and 2 are. Anyone care to catch me up in cliff note fashion?

I called b/c I wanted to schedule an oil change and just asked the guy "I heard that Android Auto / CarPlay is supposed to be available on my truck soon. Is it?" And he replied no at first, but then came back almost instantly and said something to the affect "if you just want Android Auto, we can update the software to make it work".

That said - I have a 2016 Sync 3 Lariat F150. I'm not sure what else about the details.

Edit: Sounds like 1.1 is just a normal software update. No new features. Sounds like 2 is a big refresh that adds AA and CP. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'll call to the dealer just to ask about the specifics.

2.0 is a major revision update, Carplay and Android Auto.
1.1 is a minor revision update...ie bug fixes more than likely.

Based on everything I have read and researched Carplay and Android Auto are packed together. Really nail them down and see what they will be doing.

I thought I saw earlier in this thread that the 1.1 update is a bug fix for only very specific build dates, not all trucks.

Dealer just called me back. I have 1.0 installed and they are upgrading to 1.1. He said it fixes USB problems, voice recognition, etc.

I'm going to just cancel the appt. I really just wanted to get AA if it was available since I have to get an oil change. I also need the Sirius antenna fix so I'll just wait and get it done all at once when AA is finally available. Hopefully soon. He didn't have an ETA.

It is available for all Ford vehicles with SYNC3 running 1.0.

Unless something changed...1.1 is not available OTA...it's available from the dealer for trucks that are experiencing issues with V1.0.

Just got my 2016 XLT this past weekend and it came with version 2, build date was August 5. Android Auto shows up in settings but I'm an iPhone user so I'll have to wait for the new usb hardware to try out Car Play.

Does anyone know what the USB hub looks like for the Escape? Is it potentially the same size as what's in our truck? If so...I wonder if it's as simple as just switching it out with that one for those that already have V2.

I just got my new 2016 F150 Monday, I have to check what version of sync is on it but probably V2 because I have Android Auto working. I just plug it into one of the USB ports in the center console and it syncs up. My only complaint with it is while you are in Android Auto mode it disables the voice controls for Sync, since the voice control goes to the phone.

It is out there for the new trucks so I would check with dealerships and see if the upgrade path is available yet. My salesman didn't know much about the android auto or at least didn't mention it. He synced up bluetooth the old fashion way. So they might not really have it yet.
