Default Sync 3 v3.0 Upgrade Just Released - 2018 and Older Vehicles

A stated in the title, Ford has just (within the last 2 hours) officially released a new Sync 3 software upgrade for those of you with 2018 and older F150s running v3.0. The new software CIP is JR3T-14G381-AR. The previous version was JR3T-14G381-AM.

I'm sorry at this time I don't know what the Build # is on this new software or the issues this new software is intended to resolve. I do know it will NOT upgrade your Sync 3 to v3.3.

Note: the Ford Owner website may not show this Sync 3 upgrade until tomorrow.

Again this is NOT for 2019 vehicles with Sync 3 v3.3

Whats the difference between 3 and 3.3?

BTW the new Carplay coming out from Apple is supposed to be much easier and intuitive to use. Will see.....

I'm sorry I can't speak intelligently as to the exact differences other than v3.3 is only offered on 2019 vehicles.

At this time vehicles built prior to 2019 can only be upgraded to v3.0 and I don't believe there is any intent by Ford to offer v3.3 for 2018 and older vehicles. I believe it is due to limitations of the APIM on 2018 vehicles.

Perhaps someone else will chime in more information.

I’m interested to see how this goes in my 2016. Maybe that annoying pop up for WiFi updates will go away for good.

I checked the Ford website and it says that there are no downloads available for my truck. There is some info about upgrading to the latest version for connectivity with Alexa and Waze. Since I already have Waze, not sure if this is the current version or the next one coming out.

I had bad luck with my upgrade to 3.0. After many failed tries with the USB stick, I took it to the dealer. They ended up replacing the APM under warranty.

I randomly picked one of our 2017 F150s w/Sync 3 w/Navigation v3.0 and looked on the Ford Owner Website. There were no Sync 3 downloads available at this time. I suspect the Ford Owner website will offer the update tomorrow ??

I have attached a screen capture from Oasis for that VIN# that clearly shows the new update is available.

3.3 won't work on the 2018 and older APIMs.

Not enough memory or ram for the newer software.
