Sync 3 update getting closer?

I read on a stock market site that Ford is saying that android auto will be available on most 2017 models which is not new news but having android auto show up on a 2016 is new to me. I checked for an update but do not show anything on my 16. I would guess the 16's will not see the update until the new vehicles come out.
