I have a 2017 Raptor imported into Australia so it has US maps which didn’t really bother me but when the raptor was in for a service at the local ford dealer I asked if they could install Australian maps on the sync 3 system to which they said yes we have an update usb so we tried the update usb which said installation successful and then of course the navigation fault now pops up almost every time I start the raptor followed by another dialog box which says something along the lines of Installation not finished, please keep usb plugged in whilst the system keeps updating. Everything else works perfect on sync 3.
I have tried:
Upgraded to v3 - no luck
Downgraded to v2.3 - no luck
Upgraded back to v3 - still no luck
Remove navigation fault in diagnostic menu - no luck
Re-using the Australian maps update usb - no luck
I am assuming what I need is the US maps update usb so the system can revert back to US maps which to be honest I dont care which maps it has I just want the nav fault and install not finished fault gone. I mostly use carplay anyway.
Can you guys help me out at all? My only option I see is to buy a new APIM from carperformance.se with whichever maps I want.

Perhaps there is a setting in the APIM (accessible via ForScan) that you can change country code? I have seen for US/Canada, I have to assume there's one for Oz? Just spitballin', but it might be the answer.

Check your IVSU versions. Also make sure your as built is set to the correct region. I don't know what company makes ANZ maps but different versions of the Sync Nav software get booted depending on the region specified in as built.

Thanks guys, I’m fairly certain last time I checked the IVSU versions they were correct as per the v3 update.
What are the lines and values that need to be changed for a region change? Will this change more than just radio frequencies?

Or can I just turn off the factory nav so it doesn’t even show up and I’ll just use carplay maps?
I just found the lines on forscan.org to turn on the nav buttons but unsure of what the values need to be changed to remove the nav button and map screen from my view altogether just how a non nav sync 3 would look like.

If you're giving up, you can remove the Nav icon in Sync 3 and disable it with this parameter:
7D0-01-02 x0xx xxxx xxxx
I suspect your issue is that you're just not waiting long enough. Nav updates take a lifetime to complete the install. Even in Ford's own TSB they advise technicians disable the auto engine idle shutdown prior to the update.
Do you want your region settings set to Asia or Europe?
Region is at:
7D0-02-01 **** xxxx xxxx
Hex to Ascii works as follows:
HEX = ASCII
55 HEX = ASCII 'U'
53 HEX = ASCII 'S'
Therefore:
5553 = US = USA
Using Rapid Tables .com plus real world testing we then know these are applicable in Sync 3 (Sync 3 is will only accept a few predefined regions hardcoded by Ford):
4343 = CA = Canada
5753 = WS = Samoan Islands
(which allows Nav input while in motion)
434E = CN = China
4153 = AS = Central or South East Asia
(pretty sure this exists but can't remember).
There's definitely more, those are just the ones I recall. I'm pretty sure Australia is coded the same as Central Asia and the Philippines. Verify it with the as built data from Sync 3 off of any local (to you) new Ford Ranger.
Forgot to add, Ford factory nav is pretty darn terrible by every measure. Depending on how out back in the outback you are, I'd say say connected services like Android Auto / CarPlay are the best way to go. That said, Austraila and Canada share similar stupid expensive cell phone data prices ($150 for 7GB here) and I understand why any owner of a new vehicle outside the USA would want factory navigation if available.

Much appreciate the detailed reply Airbourne_Ape!
I had a play around with the regions and also guessed a few possibilities what Australia/New Zealand could be as thats what the maps are. I think it was after trying AN the navigation all of a sudden came to life so I went for a drive and everything works as it should then came back closed down my computer did a restart (let the APIM sleep) and turned it back on and its gone back to the nav fault. Tried it all again with a different country code (AS) and same thing it worked until a full restart.
I’m ok with forscan but still stumped at what it could be. I will head to the dealer and check the Australian Asbuilt data and see how I go.
