Question Sync 3 charge iphone without Carplay

Hi Guys,

Is there a way to charge my iPhone with the front USB ports without launching Carplay?
I know you can turn off Carplay in the phone, but looking for another solution if there is one.
I would like to use the nav without Carplay since it uses data on the phone and I really dislike Apple maps.

My apologies if this is a repeat post, couldn't find anything about it with the search.

Thanks,

When you're on the CarPlay screen, you can swipe to the right and close CarPlay altogether. It'll bring you back to the Sync system and your phone should still be charging.

You can also go into the sync settings tab and scroll over to CarPlay and disable it, or you can disable it on only your phone so if your wife plugs her phone in she can use it if desired.

I disable car play and use the Ford Alexa app. It’s GREAT! I posted a thread on it and it’s benefits over apple... especially if you have factory navigation.

Thumbs up

I've been wondering the same thing. Going to try it at lunch. Thanks!

When I tried this I could go back to the default Sync screen but the Navigation remained grayed out only allowing me to use Apple maps. I have to physically turn CarPlay off to use the factory navigation.

I keep a cable plugged into each front USB port: a regular Apple cable in one for running CarPlay and a data blocking cable in the other for charging only. I bought this one from Amazon:

That didn't work for me, but I see more options there to try.

That's what I want while the phone keeps charging ...
