Default Sync 3 Album Art

I have my iPhone 6s connected via bluetooth to my 2016 XLT with Sync 3 (the newest 8" touchscreen). When playing music through the standard iPhone music app some songs show the album cover on the Sync display and other songs show random pictures of the artist. Does anyone know how to make the Sync display always show the album cover associated with the song from my iPhone?

I believe somewhere in settings there is an option to use Gracenote or what is attached in the metadata for the song.

I tried disabling Gracenote and it still seems to use it by default for some songs.

Do you add album (and playlist) art manually in iTunes or let iTunes add it when importing or purchasing?

I find some purchases made on the phone vs. through iTunes on my laptop are missing or have different artwork. (I manually add songs to my phone and convert all ACCs to MP3s)

I find this true of music and artwork on my USB thumb drive as well. I disabled Gracenote option but it still seems to happen. I'm sure there is some logical explanation, but I haven't figured it out.

All of my music is manually added to iTunes with preexisting artwork. None of my music is purchased from iTunes. I only use iTunes to transfer MP3s onto my iPhone.

The fact that this happens with a USB thumb drive as well as iPhone makes me think the problem is with Sync 3.

Disable the Gracenote. Connect phone directly via USB to one of the media ports so Sync can download the artwork (can't do this over bluetooth it seems).

Default sync3 album art

I've seen this discussed in the past, but has this issue ever been resolved? I'm aware gracenotes won't turn off.

I stumbled on something. I took some .m4v files (downloaded from iTunes store) and copied them to my iphone. Took the same files and copied to USB drive. When connected, the correct (embedded) art work displays from my iphone, but not from my usb drive (still uses gracenotes).

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place. I couldn't figure out how to start my on post. This is my first attempt.

Default Resurrect thread: SYNC 3 displays NO ARTWORK!

My current truck is a 2015 Platinum, I purchased the 4D tech Sync 3 module and installed myself. All works fine, but it displays no artwork whatsoever.

To elaborate, I have my iphone 6 and a large external harddrive connected to the two USB ports. The files on my harddrive are mostly in mp3, some in m4v I think, anyhow, they are all recognized by SYNC 3. However, whether I opt for GRACENOTE or MEDIA PLAYER, there is simply no artwork. No embedded album art, no generic artist's face, no generic random singer/headphone image, none, as if that field is not supposed to exist. No image even if I click on "info".

The above happens to both my iphone 6 and the harddrive.

Naturally, the iphone 6 music is itunes and I use Carplay, whereas I drag n drop music from my computer itunes music folder into the harddrive, so the music file should have been "cleaned/naturalized" by itunes already.

I had a previous truck of 2016, SYNC 3 too but no Carplay. I installed software upgrade and bought the Carplay USB hub. It performed perfectly. By perfect I mean there is always SOME KIND of art (correct cover, generic cover etc).

As far as software version is concerned, it's current, just like my 2016 truck.
