That said, a little tough love. I would suggest improving your wiring a bit. Phone wire splices definitely aren't designed for what you're doing, and you've got conductor exposed. You really don't want to end up chasing some weird electrical issues thanks to an errant connection.

I am looking to do this mod, I just ordered them. However what kind of wire taps are you guys using? I am looking at getting the pigtails WPT-984 as well.

Posi-taps connectors are good. It would pierce the hot wire when door is open and closed in the wire loom under sill plate and strip the end of the hot wire that's on the lighted sill plate and insert into posi and screw tight and repeat for ground and finished. Doesn't damage the trucks wires if you decide to remove. Just an idea. Just realized about the pigtails with connectors.I assume you will just need the Posi- tap butt connector. I don't know what Ford supplies on lighted sills, whether it's one connector or seperate wires and if you have the OEM connector in the sill wiring loom.

Ahh okay, I will into the Posi-taps you mentioned. From the looks of these door sills I purchaed they have a connector and would use a pigtail. Anyone on here by chance find a connector when they opended the door sill? Seems like alot of these are wired the same intially regardless of model.

I didn't find any pig tail's, but I did buy the WPT-984 tapped into violet and black for ground as noted in diagrams above. Mine is a 17' and the colors were the same.

Okay, Im guessing you purchased two pig tails for each side. They are running about 35-40 a piece?
