Default Supercharged 5.0 exhaust discussion

What's everyone doing, or are y'all doing anything at all?
A single 3" just isn't enough flow for a blown 5.0. I'm looking at a couple of different options, one cheap...one not.
The cheap option is to adapt a single Magnaflow 4" system from an Ecoboost and add 2 mufflers to tone it down. I'd cut the factory Y off and run those pipes into a Flowmaster Y300400 Y then tie the 4" EB system into that. I'd likely have $6-700 tied up in that at most since I get DW pricing on Magnaflow parts. The pro is keeping the OEM cats in place and not having to fight headers into place. The con is the OEM log manifolds stay in place.

The expensive option is the full Stainless Works set-up with long tubes, their cats and their dual 3" cat-back with X pipe and dual rear side exit. The pro is that's more flow than I'll ever need. The con is I fear it would be much louder than I want and there's no room to add extra mufflers to tone it down. Total cost on this one is close to $3000 but it's as good as it gets...although probably overkill.

Who's doing what with a blown 5.0?

I chose the full Stainless Works setup because of their X pipe and true dual exhaust for my custom 2018 order that should arrive sometime in October. Also my understanding is that this will reduce back pressure and I should be able run a bit more boost, thereby creating more horesepower.

I am still undecided on if I want to do the CAMP Cams XFI NFR Blower Cams. If I do that I will also be changing the oil pump gears.

Im trying to stay away from OPG's for as long as possible.
I'm just gonna run a simple Whipple/3.5" pulley/big TB combo and call it good.

Also...I requested a high-performance sub forum. If y'all can maybe chime in here in support maybe our threads will stop getting lost after a few hours.

I've kicked this around as well. I'm currently running just the magnaflow 19054 side exit exhaust. Remember when ford said the Harley f-150 made less power than the lightning due to less boost and a longer exhaust system?

Anyway, I'm not convinced the stock manifolds are that bad. They look pretty elaborate for castings and are part of the reason for the 2015 25 hp bump. Also, consider that the mustangs have tubular headers but the power difference can mostly be attributed to the camshafts and cal, with compression, intake manifold, and headers being less significant. Furthermore, the supercharged mustangs are gaining something like 30 hp with long tubes, but they're also gutting the cats, which could be part of the difference.

I have kicked around the idea of 3" true dual equal length exhaust, but tie in just behind the stock rear o2 sensors. This should give it a fantastic sound, more like the car, and maybe a hp bump. However, the gas tank creates a problem when trying to run symmetrical duals.

The Stainless Works true dual system looks really good. They have before and after tire side exit systems. Either one would be really easy to connect to the OEM head pipe if you cut out the Y and both have an X built in. It wouldn't be equal length but like you said that's pretty hard to pull off on a newer truck.

I have the 2015 MAD F150 w/Whipple 2.9L supercharger and Gibson Superflow exhaust http://gibsonperformance.com/i-22731...%2C%20PLATINUM and the sound is amazing with no drone!..http://mad-ind.com/project/2015-ford...num-supercrew/

I'd prob go for a simple x pipe and some magnaflow mufflers. If you want a bit more oomph you may want to start looking to get rid of any inlet restriction around the intake, if there even is any...
I honestly doubt the factory exhaust setup from the cat's back is really holding you back. I know you may not be too interested , but your bang for the buck will probably be from the headers back.

I picked up some solid power gains with JBA short tubes on my blown ride, and lost 1 psi of boost by removing the cast log manifold restriction. The pre boost, low rpm torque response was where the gains really were noticeable..

My plan is to run a 4in single with a corsa muffler - unless swayed to dual 3in. All I know is that currently with stock exhaust and a resonator delete I definitely feel like it's not enough and those stock cats are catching hell.
