gnx. even nicer.
No, the only reason it was worth writing about, is because it was a GNX.
Believe me, I know what I was driving and why he only let me, drive it a hundred yards and back.
The Gran National's were something in their day, no doubt. But you don't forget driving a limited edition car with an X attached to it.

He put himself through law school buying and selling the right cars.
He sunk everything he had (at 25 years of age) to buy that GNX and 8 months later got a very healthy return on it.
Big gamble with an expensive education, but he pulled it off.

I have 6k miles on my 2017. I love it and got it for a steal! Enough power for me and good mpg to boot. It's already had 2 bloody deer in it, and other than a john boat and trailer that's the majority of the work it does. Great engine choice for those like me who don't need 10,000+ lbs of towing capacity. Awesome truck! This is my first modern truck. I've had a 1983 F-150 with the straight 6 4.9L, a 1988 F-150 with the 302 V-8, and a 2003 Ram hemi 5.7 V-8. This is my favorite so far for sure.

The engines seem to get stronger the closer to 10,000 miles you get.

Wow, Mike, I had to look twice. That looks exactly like my 2016 3.5 na did when I bought it. I have since added a few dress up items. Great looking truck! Mine has served me well, so far ~27k miles. Hope you enjoy it!

Finally rolled 100k miles on mine. Not a single engine problem or hickup at all. Ran every fuel and mix of E-85 to 87 to 93 octane, truck does not care what I give it. Seems like it has more power than ever, still silent idle. Got lazy a few times when it was -10F and snowing and just let it idle at work for sometimes 6 hours so it would be cleared off and warmed up to go. Will now just change plugs and filters and see if there is a fuel filter or not and change coolant and head to 200k miles now. One rear lock started to freeze up after a wash at -5 even after the latest lock shield upgrade so Ford does not have that problem solved quite yet. I had not had a problem with the locks all winter and was pushing my luck washing it at colder and colder temps. It was the right rear door only, all others were fine. Pushed 7 inch snow last week to clear my 2 acre parking lot. Stability control saved my bacon running 85mph on the interstate that I thought was dry until I tried to slow down and was all ice. Entered a sweeping curve and had barely touched the brakes when the ABS came on instantly. It was quite the pucker factor for a few moments, but the truck just held the line until I could scrub off speed. I swore the surface looked absolutely dry.

Keep us (the small 3.5 n/a group) posted. I try to avoid below freezing washing even tho I too had the latest tsb with the rain shields done last winter. I had 1 freeze up last year shortly after the tsb but knock on wood nothing this year. I hope you break 200k and then some!
PS. It's real nice of you to torture test the 3.5 n/a for us lol

Great thread y'all. I just registered because of this forum. I just added Flowmaster American thunder exhaust to my 16' 3.5l NA and am looking for more engine upgrades to increase Horsepower. Besides adding a cold air intake, do you guys have any other suggestions for hp increase? Btw, the Flowmasters are turning out great. At first, the engine seemed to be bogging down but after about a week I think the engines computer adjusted to it. I also found that running in "Sport" mode keeps it in the gear you'd want for better throttle response. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If you double tap the traction control button, the traction control mode goes into sport mode as well. She'll slide a bit more willingly.

My 3.5 has been running like a dream. All the power I need. No complaints. And I imagine it should be easy to work on in 10 years when something wears out. Im at 12300kms now (7600 mi?)

Sadly, I doubt there are many ponies left to squeeze out of our engines....(i think there's a twin turbo kit out there ) not economically anyway, not for less than the price of one of the higher tier choices. You may be able to find a tune but dolars to ponies its prob not worth it. In all honestly ( I do own the same 3.5n/a) if hotrodding was in your future there was 3 better options. That said I don't regret my little motor and it does what ever I ask of it and has been flawless over the last 35000 km. It performs similarly to my old 4.6 v8. Its not like its under powered, its just not the most powerful engine option. I'm not trying to be a jack hole or a Debbie downer and I have done some mods to my truck but it will never run down or out perform the other 3 options...heck most people on this forum don't even consider our engines as a choice and most of the people that do opt for them never even visit or join a forum. This fourm is a gold mine of information related to our trucks tho, just cuz we have different power plants the rest of the truck is shares a lot of common parts and sometimes problems lol. Enjoy your truck for what it is and make it yours. If you do manage to get some more economical hp let us know.
