Buddy of mine has a '13 F150 with the NA 3.7L and it's been good engine.

It's nice to see this thread pop up once and a while.... reminds me that I'm not the only person that happily owns this engine lol

Learned to drive a '69 F100, 3 on the column with a 360 - much less HP than my NA 3.5. My '91 GMC w/ 305 V-8 was way down on power compared to new engines. But - they came with manual transmissions...

Yes, so did the F-150.

about to roll 70,000 on 3.5na not a single issue or glitch with engine. Still 19-20 mpg running speed limit on highway. Dips to low teens at 90 to 100 mph. May push some snow tomorrow with it. On the other hand looking at new '17 f-450 for another work delivery truck with V-10 4x4 with 4.88 gears. Will put an 18 ft box on it. Sitting inside that one feels just like and looks like the inside of my F-150 exactly. V-10 is beast motor. May drive the F-450 for a while commuting before I turn it over to employees to destroy and dirty up. Getting 4x4 because eventually it will get a plow and only $2500 upcharge. I was not up to diesel headaches even when the 6.7 seems like a good engine so far. Diesel seemed like overkill.

I am wondering what the new 3.3 coming out will be like, if it will be a smaller bore 3.5 (like the 3.7 is just a bored 3.5) or entirely different. 3.5 is just such an all around performer in the whole Ford line up.
Was waiting for a 2016 3.5 SCAB XL sport 4x4 to come up at the right price but it kept never happening (they were going like $37k+) so I broke down and spent a bunch of money on my 14 (and all the things I bought are specific to 09-14s of course) and what do you know the exact truck with exact options pops up a week later for $32217 on the lot. Had E locker and factory tow package with brake controller too, in grey.

Like you guys I purchased the truck I wanted and mine came with the 3.5 NA, 122 wheel base, 3.55 locker and 53A tow package. I added the Ford trailer brake controller and been enjoying this truck for the past 6 months averaging 23 MPG. I also installed the Hellgig rear swaybar and a bed mat. I have a question for those towing near the limits. I am seeking info on how their trucks perform from pulling away to hills to highway merging. I am not looking to challenge the "IKE" but there are plenty of other hills to get up & down. I plan to pull a travel trailer weighing @5500 lbs, tongue wt of 800 using WD hitch and @ 400lbs of gear in the bed plus @300 lbs of people. This will leave @300 lbs of payload.

Am I going to be a menace to travel due to slowness on hills and merging on the highway?

Thanks

You'll be fine. Slow(er), yes, but just stay to the right until you get up to speed.

Finally got my truck leveled on 33's with the 3.5L NA. Feel almost no difference from the stock tires. Also got Anzo headlights in and on the truck.
