Default still shopping - what is that keypad on the door of some F150s?

Do you need to use that to get into the truck or do they also have the typical wireless key fob? Why have both?

That's right. Some folks use their keypad to lock their key in the truck as well , like say when out in the woods fishing or something where you would not want to lose the physical key. Unlike the folks above, I love the keypad and use it all the time. You can also lock things up or drop the tailgate with it not having the key.

They are largely useless. It is just an added gimmick. I have used mine 2 or 3 times just to test it out. I have wireless/push button.

i don't have the door keypad because i have the lowest model.. but when i had my 04 lariat i never used it either

XL/XLT - physical Key
Lariat and above - keyless entry and push button start

some people like to lock their keys in their car so they use the keypad

It is used to enter and lock the truck without FOB. But yes, FOB works as well ....and you have a third option to lock/unlock with Fordpass app on smartphone (if you’re truck is equipped with a ethernet module.

So I guess the idea is to be able to get into the truck to retrieve something or whatever without going to find the key fob?

Wait, wait... are you saying XLT even with 302A doesn't have keyless entry with a fob?? That would be a deal breaker. I don't really care about push button start.

Ford has had the doorpad for years and years. Not sure what practical use I guess if you wanted to send someone to the truck to retrieve something it would work for that if they knew the code. My fob is in my pocket whenever I need something and it is a proximity remote so I don't need to push anything as the door unlocks when I touch the handle. Locks when I touch the handle again.
