For those wondering I went with an 1100w Boss Amp https://www.amazon.com/BOSS-R1100M-1.../dp/B004S4XNEO
and a 1500w Pioneer sub https://www.amazon.com/PIONEER-TS-SW...neer+12%22+sub
If you throw in the wiring kit and box I built (0.8 cubic feet, uses up about half the room under the seat and sits flush) I was sitting with under 200$ out of pocket. I had the exact setup in my old junk Silverado and it sounds amazing. Just throwing out an alternative for those interested

The Boss amp DOES NOT put out 1100 watts and the Pioneer sub WILL NOT handle 1500 watts. Anything with the BOSS name on it is junk. Pioneer likes to throw out PEAK wattage numbers. Always use RMS wattage numbers.

So my TBX10A is now installed in my 2018 Lariat with the stock non-Sony head unit. I had no sub connector in the C pillar, so I wired myself. Power from battery, remote from fuse #37, inputs from Front L&R via a Line Converter. No Forscan needed for this install at all.
Makes a solid difference in the quality of the sound system by filling in all the lows that the door speakers can't produce. I upgraded all 7 stock speakers + the sub for about $400. Budget! And it sounds fine. I'm not trying to wake the dead or shatter glass. I just want to listen to Van Halen at 15-20 on the volume **** and it's great for that.
Thanks to D2Abbott for this suggestion. It's worked out great for me.

Awesome. As for a fun fact (also a VH fan) if van halen sounds good on the system now, every other band will sound awesome because VH tunes always lack bass lol

I didn't take any really. I can explain whatever you need. It was a pretty simple install once I figured out exactly where to tap into the front speakers. For those, there are white plugs in each front footwell. Drivers side is right above the hood release level (pull kick panel to access), passenger side is right behind the glovebox at the right side. Just drop the glovebox fully and it's easy to get to. Speaker wires are easy to identify and t tap. Then just run speaker wire back through the door sills to the sub location and connect to your LOC.
