Drove from El Paso to Midland and back. No weather nor noticeable wind. Tempted to unlplug the batter and try to do a reset on the computer. I bought the truck with 2k miles (dealer demo) so maybe the tranny has some bad education?

Any ideas?

I am waiting for the Roush Power Pack for these things to do a CAI and Tune via the dealer... Ive been running 88 Octane. I bumped it up to 91 on this trip and still no improvement. I havent checked the PSI on the tires. They are at whatever they dealer set them to. They are the 20" Wheels.

I am getting 16.8 driving around the city like a grandpa.
It should do better I'd think. I have a '15, (see sig), just went on about a 300 mile trip today to go dirt biking in the mountains, speeds varied, sometimes up to 75-80. MPG for trip was 19.7. I've got over 20 multiple times. The guys are correct, faster you go, less you get. If I were you I'd reconsider the CAI & dealer tune. Spend your money on a custom tune, way more benefit than any CAI or exhaust which IMHO doesn't really do anything except make more noise & drain your pocketbook.

People that think trucks and high MPGs go together = LOL!

I have a 5.0 and I was seeing 20 MPGs cruising the highway as long as I was in 6th gear and below 2,000 RPM. You deviate from that and you will see less MPGs, period.

My 5.0 really drops when going 75mph. Going 60 a whole lot better.

Right. We get it. You'd buy a F150 even if it got 5MPG, because it's a truck and it's a Ford.

A few years ago I would say people were being unrealistic and petty when complaining about fuel economy in a truck. Recently though we've been trained to accept and believe that trucks can get pretty decent fuel economy. From whom? The people who make the damn thing and the people that test the fuel efficiency.

So is it really "LOL" worthy for someone to think their truck will get what it's rated to get? I don't think he's asking a lot. He's not even getting what the truck is rated for in the city when he's on the highway. Could be user error, could be a lying manufacturer. Either way, scoffing at his confusion over it and efforts to improve it is childish and makes you look weak.

The stick up your *** is even more LOL worthy.

It's obvious you buy into the advertisers' hype about how a turbo V6 gets amazing gas mileage. If that were the case, there wouldn't be 10 threads a day complaining about poor fuel mileage.

It's a truck not a Prius. It's not going to get good fuel economy. It's heavy and has an engine built for power. Where do you think that power comes from?

To the OP,

I just compare my new truck to my last truck and my 2012 5.0 got 3mpg less than my 2015 2.7tt gets.
I have used Fuelly to track every fuel up on both trucks - much more accurate than the crazy numbers the dash computer was giving me.

That comes out to a 20% improvement for me without any change in driving habits or use of the truck.
I had 2 different v6 RCLB 2wd F150's that averaged less than my '15 4wd crew cab does now.

Crazy thing to me is that in daily use, the 2.7tt with 3.55's is faster than the 5.0 was with 3.73's.
