Starting trouble with low fuel
So I started the truck the other day with remote start. Let it run a few minutes then got in and started to move and it stalled out. Would not restart. Starter ran but no fire. I originally thought it was something to do with the remote start. I did a search on here and found several people have had trouble starting if the fuel is low and the truck is parked nose down on a hill (exactly as mine was). I added about 3-4 gallons of fuel from a can and viola, it started right up.
Here's the thing, my fuel was low but not running on fumes by any stretch. The Miles to empty read 87 miles. The manual says the Low Fuel indicator doesn't even come on til 35 miles to empty. I filled the tank and it took 25 gallons, subtract that and the 4 gallons I added means I had approx 7 gallons in the tank when it would not start. I could understand this happening if the fuel was down to 2-3 gallons but 7 gallons is ridiculous. I am not one who keeps their tank topped off, one of the reasons I love the 36 gallon tank, less fill ups. I have a 2013 Expedition that I have had parked in the same spot of my driveway with the Distance to empty reading 2 miles and no problems. This seems like a serious design flaw to me. I plan to address this with the dealership when I take it in for service. If anyone has any experience with this or insight please comment.

The dealer can't do anything for you. The tank is long and narrow... if you park it on a hill, especially nose-down, this will happen. Keep the tank more than 1/4 full and you'll be fine... and the fuel pump will be happier as well.
