Stance - How do I get my bed to sit a little lower
Hello. Newbie here. Leased a '15 SCAB 4x4 in Nov. 2015. Got the 2.7 Ecoboost. Like the truck very much.
I've read a little bit here about a 'kit' to adjust the way the truck sits so that the bed seems more level. Has anyone found a cheap, easy way to do this?
Thought about just putting some weight in the back but then I'm carrying around that weight all the time (mileage, wear, etc.).
If I put 200-300 pounds in the back, will it make much difference either way?
Thanks in advance,
Jim

It's literally called a leveling kit. The question is whether or not your lease allows you to install one.

Because it's a 4X4 you have factory 1.25" lift blocks installed in the rear. Yhe 2wd doesn't have these. You can remove them for the cheapest, easiest way to get more level. Or you can buy a leveling kit to bring the front up to the rear. The front will run you the cost of the kit about $150 plus an alignment and install if you can't do it yourself. Figure on $600 maybe, I did mine myselft. Removing the rear blocks is free and anyone with basic skill can do it. So you either gain lift in the front, either 1.5" 2" 2.25" or 2.5" depending on the kit, or you lower 1.25" in the rear.

you can also install a longer shackle which will lower the back about an inch. About the same cost as a leveling kit but has no impact on ride and you won't need to pay for an alignment.

Yes, that's the solution you're looking for based on your question. Simple to remove and you can either buy the shorter 2 wheel drive u bolts, leave yours hanging a bit lower or grind yours down.

I'm pretty handy and do most of my own work. Saw some images of the rear blocks under the leaf springs. I assume you need to support the truck frame and the axle in order to do this. Correct? I don't want to tinker with springs under pressure. Will also watch YouTube video on same.

When I installed my 3" blocks put the truck on jack stands with the axle in the air. I supported the axle with a floor jack. Undo the U bolts and lower the floor jack enough to get the blocks out. When you get the blocks out, just raise the axle with the jack. Only do one side at a time. Lol I know from experience.

I'll share my experience.
My '10 F150 Screw 4x4 I used shackles to drop the rear. It sat withing 1/2" of perfectly level, except when I had any load on the back, then I was a tail dragger.
My '16 F150 Screw 4x4 I fortunately discovered the ability to remove the blocks. While it was a little more involved than installing shackles(I shortened the U bolts) I think it's a better solution. The back of the truck now sits 1.25" taller in the rear, and levels out with the boat, trailer, or load in the bed instead of tail dragging.
I'd also recommend you install the Hellwig rear sway bar while you are taking the blocks out.
