sports mode is it tb or tranny?
when using sport mode what is it that makes the truck responsive?
is sport mode changing the throttle body settings? or the actual shift points? either way sport mode is great except for the crazy down shift slowing down hill. |
I believe it changes both. Definitely the shift points.

I think the cpu just enhances the throttle response and ups the shifts. Someone here with more knowledge of this than I should chime in as I'm interested to know too. |

On our former Honda's with the 3.5L V-TECH V-6 it would adjust according to how much throttle you gave it! :thumbsup: |
Sport mode (and tow/haul mode for that matter) changes two things:
1) Less gas pedal travel to get the same result. "Sport mode reduces the frequency of having to step on the gas pedal to reach peak torque – resulting in quicker acceleration with less pedal travel. The truck feels more responsive to the driver’s pedal inputs." 2) Holds gears longer. "That means less shifting on engaging drives, such as twisty roads with rolling hills. Instead of shifting gears up and down for peak efficiency, the transmission holds a specific gear longer to make driving more responsive and spirited." |

I do believe it also changes the cam timing to get the turbos spooled quicker. |
I romped my 2.7l w/3.73’s from a stand still in sport mode for the first time yesterday and it roasted my rear tires and damn near chirped 2nd. Couldn’t believe it. Very impressed with the set up. |
No the only thing it changes is pedal angle so you don’t have to push the pedal as far down to get up in the higher up/tq range and shift points. This was confirmed by the chief of engineering for ford in a video I watched.
