If your spare is mounted so the valve is facing up, simply lower it, flip it over, and put it back up with the valve down so it is easy to check and add air as needed.
So why is the spare mounted the way it is? Is it that Ford engineers aren't smart enough to mount it the other way so that customers can check air pressure? Or, is there a real reason, like if you mount it with the valve down the rim will collect water and debris and rust out?

It is so hard to lower it once every 6 months and air it up to the sidewall max. This also ensures that the winch doesn't seize up.

Just talked to a friend that was towing a trailer from upstate N.Y. to FL with supplies after the hurricane hit. He was going down to help my cousin. He had five flats between the truck and trailer with two rims bent from hitting stuff on I95. His spare was flat for the truck didn't have a spare for the trailer. Cost him big bucks to get them fixed along side the interstate. Extreme yes, but poop happens.

People feel it’s a waste of money and this and that to end that discussion it’s not their money and my experience as I said I had to run the spare for a holiday in snow and ice and the truck fish tailed, it was unnerving in constant frozen rain.

That at little bit of comfort knowing that if I had a flat and I had to wait a week for a repair I don’t have to be u easy about it. If it’s not your money then I recommend keeping the waste of money bs to yourself :P I also blow about 1k a month on treats for my dog so a single 700 dollar tire isn’t hurting my wallet.

Sorry. I'm looking to do the same thing, so I figured I'd go ahead and take some measurements. I apologize if it appeared that I was trying to steal your thunder.
