Decent speaker suggestions for Reg Cab XL
I need to pull a door panel off and figure I should change the speakers. What’s a decent upgrade y’all have experience with? Does anyone know the sizes? Would a front dash center speaker plug and play?
Its an XL with basic sync and power accessories.
Overall the volume is pretty weak.

If you want volume, the best thing to do is install an aftermarket amplifier and replace the speakers with something that can handle more power. These days there are a lot of quality speaker options. You may want to stop by a local audio/electronics store and listen to see what fits the tone you’re looking for. I ran infinity Kappa speakers in my truck and loved them. That may be a little beyond the scope of your project. The doors are rather easy to take apart FYI - it’s okay to take time to research what fits your needs and do the audio install separately.

I loved my Infiniti kappa/ Reference series speakers in my last truck , but opted for a cheap pair of Kicker 43CSC6934 6"x9" 3-way car speakers . for $79.99 from crutchfield. they have gone up to $99.00 but they do come with all the hardware and wire harness to hook up. Good bass and clarity. They really do sound great and I would do it again. I am using a small amp from my direct fit kicker sub/ speaker setup from my old truck. The amp fit perfectly behind the factory stereo above the slider for the storage space. ** Sorry for the size, my go advance button will not work. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_206CSC...934.html?tp=91

Heck crutchfeild says it only has pillar and door speakers. Lol.
6-1/2 in the door. Don’t think I’d mess with the pillar speakers unless there is some big improvements.

It would probably turn into a bigger hassle than you’re looking for. For the sake of loudness you can glass in an extra pair of speaker pods and send them a duplicate of the signal heading to the doors. Personally I’d recommend a 5 channel amplifier (4 woofers + 1 sub), new speakers, and a shallow mount sub behind the seat. Add some sound deadener while you take the doors apart and you’ll get a very nice finished product.

Are the factory pillar speakers worth a crap?
If so i am looking at 2 6.5 door speakers, small amp, and a sub.
I probably won’t be able to take up behind the back seat as this is a work truck. Anyone mount them under the passenger seat? One 8 would work fine or maybe even a 6.

I have a 2016 RCSB XL..Ayup....just door speakers & pillars ...Check Crutchfield....I wanted to upgrade door speakers and add rear speakers with box’s ...that means new head unit ,amp and trim kit, steering wheel harness etc etc ...couldn’t justify the cost we’ll over $1000...a simple door speaker upgrade can be had $100 +/- $50
