Sony sound system
Just wondering how Ford's premium sound system sounds in the new F-150? I own a 2015 Sierra Z-71 SLT double cab with the Bose sound system, and could not be happier. But many owners here are voicing their displeasure with it, Ford's Sony' that is. I'm totally shocked because I own a lot of Sony home audio and video electronics. If someone else owns Sony home audio systems: is there that much of a difference? I wonder how it compares to the other truck's premium sound systems: Ram has Alpine, GM has Bose, Toyota has JBL , and Nissan has Rockford Fosgate. Has anyone compared the others?

I think it actually sounds pretty decent, but no where near is good as the Bose in my wife's 15 Yukon.
It could be better, but it's not terrible. I would rate it about a 6.5 out of 10 and my wife's a 9 out of 10.
You may be spoiled by your current Bose though.

I think that it's good for a factory system when using a good source, but I'm yet to hear any factory stereo that I thought sounded great.

Pretty weak all the way around. The highs are flat and mid range muddy...and there's the much bass... I had a Camaro with the BA premium system, and although it was clearer and more crisp, didn't have the volume the Sony does.

I'll be replacing my speakers, adding an amp and sub with my sony to get better sound. Thank goodness I have the 5.0 so I don't have to deal with that fake v8 engine noise in the EB.

I've tried to like it, but just can't.
As others have said: Highs are dead, mids are muddy, and there is very little punch from the sub.
It can be source dependent (Sirius is horrible!), but there just isn't enough there for me.
I am having a system installed next Friday.
Keeping the head unit, but upgrading the speakers to Hertz Energy 6.5 components, Hertz HDP5 amp, and a Alpine SWR-T10 sub in a custom box that will be under the driver's side rear seat.
I think that should clean things up nicely.

Yeah, I had a brand new '05 Sierra Z-71 SLT crew cab and when I still had the free trial of XM, back then, it sounded very weak, it sounded like an echo chamber and tin-can like. Although fm and cd sources sounded beautiful 'till the day I traded it in, 10 years later. But my new Bose sounds FANTASTIC, regardless the source.
