Someone nailed me
Cracked this little piece of plastic in my front bumper. Not sure when it happened but had to have been recent. No damage to the chrome part of the bumper, thank goodness. Almost looks like it could have been poked by a trailer hitch. Had to have been a Chevy owner. I know Ford owners are not so inconsiderate to keep their trailer hitches on whether they are using it or not.
Doesn't seem to be just a small piece. Looks like it's one big piece almost the width of the bumper. May have to hit up some junkyards. Ford probably wants an arm and leg for a new piece. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...18509d97a2.jpg |
I have cousin who never takes the ball mount out of the hitch on his f 250,
he's a lifetime Ford guy. My dad always left the ball mount in his old chevy, my shins still hurt when I think about how many times I whacked myself on it. In my experience, Ford parts aren't always totally ridiculous( but chevy's are ), you should give your local dealer a call and see how bad they want to burn you for it. It might just be a mild dry hump instead of an all out, well you know:yes: |
wither chevy parts,or ford parts are both ridiculous.

You might also try the For Sale section here. Place a WTB ad. I know there are lots of guys who have replaced their bumper and also installed lights in that area. Might find someone that has one they will part with.

It’s a $35 dollar part from Ford and just snaps on. Just grab a new one and go... |

Just pry an end out with trim tool, grab it and pull. Oh, just make sure you get one for an Egoboost, center section is different on a 5.0 |

The idiots can't say the same thing. Last one was in a Cadillac, punched a nice big hole in her front bumper cover, a fitting reward for being inattentive to her driving while paying more attention to her damn cell phone. . |

I resemble that remark and I resent it as well. What is inconsiderate about leaving the receiver in the hitch? I do it as a form of protection from idiots that ride my tail especially in drive thru lanes. Already been bumped twice with no damage to my truck.

I don't leave mine in mainly because I am still psychologically scarred from all of the shin whackings on dad's hitch as a youngster. I never got any sympathy from dad either, he would just say '' watch where you're going knucklehead '' . |
I leave the hitch in the receivers on both my trucks. It’s for convenience, step, and protection. That way when people pull in too tight behind me they bust up their bumber instead of hitting my trucks. Plus when I do need to tow they are already set. |
