Smoked grille emblem

Transparent black paint. Mad it by adding a small amount of black base coat to a large amount of clear base coat. Just kept adding layers till I got the shade I wanted them topped with clear coat.

I would like to do several more of these for me with the same color, then just sell them to me! I bet you could do some in mass production and sell quite a few. I have a magnetic plat and think the blue sticks out a bit too.
How did you do the platinum badge in the back? Is that paint as well? Just masked off letters? I'm hoping to do similar

Looks like you sprayed directly over the chrome with the clear/candy? Are you not concerned with a potential de-lamination problem later once it sees road time and the possibility of rocks hitting it?

I used an adhesion promoter/flex agent over the chrome to hopefully help it hold up. However it is sprayed over unsanded chrome so there is a high likely hood hat it won't hold. Only time will tell. Still have my original emblem so I can swap out or try something new if this fails.

Thought about that but not sure how well it would work over all the seams & uneven surface. Il about to paint the emblem that was on the truck. Just gonna paint the blue part black & leave the chrome. If the smoked one doesn't hold up I'll swap this one back in.
