I called today when I swapped out my radio with one from a Focus back in September. They told me they cannot get me the remaining 5 year trial when I swapped out the radio. The dealership paid for that feature, so I will call them to see what they say. I also am having XM send me the legal terms and conditions so I can look it over. I cancelled my subscription, like it matters at this point.

I just got off the phone with Sirius. My travel link is re-instated as of right now. They tried to weasel their why out of it several times. Do not give in to their BS and make them restore this service to you. Thanks so much for this thread. It really should be a sticky

My travel link disappeared when I renewed after owning my 2016 Platinum for 6 months. Didn't care much because I mostly use Waze BUT it is nice having the travel link for quick trips or when there is no service from the phone. Sirius always plays games with the billing so when i renewed i told them just give me the basic deal. The travel link went away and I figured it was part of the renewal process. I totally forgot that the travel link comes with the GPS for 5 years. This thread got me to call them slime ***** and have it re-instated.

Sirius will give you practically anything if you threaten to leave. If you leave, the longer you are out the better the deal. They now want to cut my previous subscription in half and 3 months free just because I quit. They have shown me how dishonest and shady they are. Just give everybody a set rate and stick to it. This is such a good example of poor business practices!

One more tip when dealing with Sirius.

When you pay for a subscription it will auto-renew when your prepaid period ends, at a ridiculous monthly amount. They autopay this using the original payment method. And they usually won't send you a notification.

So when you sign up tell them to remove your payment method from their system and to mail you a monthly invoice when your period is up. They will tell you that they can't do that but just stand firm (I turn this all the way up to *****h0le level) and tell them that they WILL do it that way.

Now down the road when you get an invoice in the mail it's your reminder to call them to renegotiate a new 6 month subscription period (for less than 2 months of regular price).

I signed up both my wife's car and my truck with a one time use credit card from Privacy.com (for transparency, this is a referral link gets me $5). It allows you create a one time use card that you can set a spending limit on. I set mine to one-time for no more than $39. Sirius ended up trying to charge it again but of course it was declined when the subscription ran out. Now were waiting for the sign up offers to start rolling in again on her car.

I also use it for anything with a subscription with a dedicated card for each (netflix, spotify, amazon prime, etc) so I don't have to go to a bunch of sites changing card numbers if my credit card # gets stolen. I'll also use one time cards for sketchy sites if I don't trust them.

I have never let Sirius have my Credit Card... Always had them bill me (and got them to wave the $2 billing fee)... and I have my bank send them a check. No auto-billing hassle... and they notify me a month in advance for renewal.

When i renewed my subscription, it did not affect my Travel Link. It still works, but I have to be honest, I don't see the big attraction. It's kind of useless i think, unless I'm not using it right.

now that I have it working.. yea - - it is short of a joke...

~ The Traffic is nearly always too late to do any good... AND: with 2014 Map Data in my Nav, knowing traffic info, on roads that I can not see, doesn't do much good.

~ The Weather tells me what my phone already did, and the weather map, is such crap detail, that it is pretty much useless except from the 10 mile view to give you a feeling if it is raining in your quadrant of the US or not...

~ I found the Gas Info not nearly as accurate as Gas Buddy...

~ I've never tried the Sports Scores, because if I am that interested in a game, I am playing the game live on the radio...

~ Normally, if I am going to a Movie, I already found it and bought my tickets on the internet.

~ I am not paranoid enough about my stocks to want minute by minute 24/7 info!

~ Safe View... So far, my state, and none of the states I have driven my F150 through, still have Ticket Cameras. So that doesn't do much for me.

~ and of course, I never plug my F150 into the power grid, so the EVC option is of no use at all for me.

I pretty much thinking, when my 5 years is up, I'll not be continuing the Travel Link stuff.
