Should the License Plate be remounted on the 2.7L
#31
Anyone found a nice relocation bracket to look like the previous gen? I want a light bar where my license plate is. I have thought about just screwing it to the side caps, but figured that might look a bit trashy.

My $.02, take it for what it's worth. There is a gaping hole in the front bumper, right in front of the intercooler, for a reason. If there was no benefit to it, it wouldn't exist. I don't care what Ford says about the changes they made, the intercooler cannot be as efficient covered, as it is uncovered. More airflow across the intercooler will result in lower intake air temps, and more power. When the engine does not need the extra cooling, it has active shutters to regulate the temps. If you would like to cover your intercooler with the front license plate, go right ahead. I am choosing not too.
If your state requires a front plate, and you don't desire the extra Law Enforcement attention that removing the front plate can result in, the front license plate bracket can be modified to sit lower and allow better airflow to the intercooler(See photo). I originally did this, and think it is an excellent compromise, but have since removed the bracket altogether for maximum cooling potential. Personally, I'm not worried about the LE attention.
Papa Tiger, I'm with you on not intentionally blocking airflow to the intercooler. However, I don't see any benefit to adding your plate back for winter. The active shutters will regulate the temps without it. That's their job.
I get the argument: "If the shutters are closed most of the time, what difference does it make?". The fact is, this really varies based on ambient temps and how hard you're pushing the engine. Under hard use(Towing, Performance Tuning, etc) and rising temps, the shutters open to cool the intercooler. When this happens, I'd like my intercooler to be as efficient as possible. If there was really a problem with leaving it uncovered, why isn't everyone who has a 2.7EB, in a state where no front license plate is required, having issues?
Again, my $.02. You do as you see fit.

I just fastened mine below to the lower air dam for now. I like the way yours looks also. I know some will ditz the change but that's their choice.

Had some time in between travels to get this picture. Here is what it look like today. The 2 sets of horns are for the deer here. I believe in what I have witnessed personally.

Just snipped it to fit at the top and fastened it at top on 2 existing bolts, just narrowed the slots 1/4" and bottom by first drilling 2 pilot holes

... front plates?

Wasn't Fords Quick fix solution for the condensate problem on the first gen EBs to install a shield to partially block air flow to inter-cooler? Ford is very aware CAC air flow issues and still see's fit to mount licence plate in front. Seems like a non issue.

19 states do not require front license plates, guess it is not a problem for them. Ford says remove the front license on Raptors if off roading for best performance in the Manuals. Since the License covers 3/5 th. of the opening it would seem obvious it is better off than on with the independent Shutters especially on these hot days now.
The nineteen states that require only one plate on the rear bumper are Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.
It's fairly a good mix of weather conditions on any given day.
Most all can agree the better a motors performance the better it will run for the most part.
It certainly doesn't create a warranty condition either way. Mines moves at my will. Thas the way it will be. It is the sport model with tow haul and 3.73 E-loc differential.
I haven't had the air dam touch with the 18" wheels and I am comfortable with it there.

It is obvious this 30 minute snip an fasten with 4screws works an I'm ok with it. The truck runs long hard interstate miles at 70 mph. It will do round trips thru the Mountains and high 90's of June for graduations.
