Should I wait for a 15?
Hi guys, I currently have a 2007 Black 2 tone Lariat 2wd F150 with pretty much everything but the Navigation. it has 109k miles on it right now and I'm looking for a new truck. I can get a 2014 Fx4 402a for fairly cheap right now, but I'm wondering if it is worth to buy an essentially 6 year old truck when the new one is around the corner. Looking at paying $30,000 out the door for a ~$500/ month payment. Trade is valued at $11K in October, and I do have access to Xplan. Thanks

With similar numbers, I plan on buying a mid-XLT Screw V8 at invoice/X-plan (MSRP of ~ $46,300) with $524/month at 1.9% for 60 months. BTW, I live in a state with no sales tax, low dealer fees (e.g. waivers on Doc & Ad fees) & low state title/registration/license fees. Sounds like you're good to go with a 2015.

Well, thing is, the Lariat I built online was like $54k, and I do not think there is a way to bring that down to 30K with trade and TTL. I just dont know how much longer I can wait (nothing mechanically wrong, but dont want to wait around until there is).

It's always perilous to ask a bunch of people salivating over a new product how you should spend your money. After all, spending YOUR money costs US nothing.
I have an '07 also, though with about 30k fewer miles. The prices of the remaining '14s are quite appealing, but my truck does what I need it to do (even though it's a bit thirsty while doing it.) The only 2 things that are strongly appealing to me about the '15 over the '14 are the LED lights (assuming they perform well) and the weight reduction/payload increase. Because my main reason for having a truck is to tow an Airstream, I want the 3.5 Ecoboost so the new engines are a non-issue for me.
Your own mental checklist may be different, though, and there may be some reason you really want to wait for the '15+ trucks. My inner cheapskate tells me that "paid off and still running right" trumps "big new loan" for now.

I too am trying decide between '14 and '15. If I was going to get the 3.5 ecoboost, I would save the money and time waiting and just buy a discounted '14. It is a great proven truck and should be quite an upgrade over a 2007 model. The powertrain IMO is the most important part of the truck and the powertrain on the 2015 is unchanged if you get the bigger ecoboost. I'm not going that route though. As soon as there are good rebates I'll probably buy a '15 with the 2.7. The supposedly great fuel economy is really appealing to me. I really like the looks of the 2015 and I really want the best fuel economy possible. I wish more of the reviews I have read would describe how much better the '15 is than the '14.

I was struggling with the same decision. Id love to have the newest and best, but with the incentives offered right now on some 14's, I just can't justify the premium id pay for a 15. Check out the XLT luxury package. They only did it in 14. My truck has power everything, leather, backup cam, hid headlights, 4x4. Sticker was around $47 and with rebates and incentives, I got it for just over $32. My 2011 XLT with less options was the same price. The XLT luxury package actually pulled me away from buying a 14 FX4. Figure I saved at least $10k. You won't be able to get anything on a 15 for $32k!

I have a feeling that late year 15 Ford will be offering fairly decent rebates. With the price of these things I'm not sure they are going to sell as well as the 14s.
