I was in the same boat and just pulled the trigger on a 14. Invoice - $5500 in rebates plus they put good money in my 05 Duramax. I'm always leery of new technology, I'll wait out the aluminum body a few years. That and probably $6-7k more for 1 mpg, not worth it.

I can get a 2014 Fx4 402a for fairly cheap right now, but I'm wondering if it is worth to buy an essentially 6 year old truck when the new one is around the corner. Looking at paying $30,000 out the door for a ~$500/ month payment. Trade is valued at $11K in October, and I do have access to Xplan. Thanks
I would get the 14 for sure. That's way cheaper than a 15 will be and I wouldn't buy the first year truck, wait til they get some of the bugs worked out and the price drops some.

All this FUD about the pricing...

The details have gotten shuffled around quite a bit, and the way you end up with certain setups like FX4 is different, but to ME, for the truck I'm likely to order, it doesn't seem to have changed much from '14 to '15. You can't compare transaction prices on a '14 to list prices on a '15, that's not a realistic comparison. I've posted essentially the same thing before:

Trying to build a similar truck the way I'll likely order my 2016, I built 2014 and 2015 Supercrew 5.5' box 2WD Ecoboost Lariats with 502A (Lariat Luxury), Max Tow, spray-in bedliner, wheel-well liner and the tailgate step. For 2015, 502A includes the Lariat Chrome pkg but it doesn't seem to for 2014, so I included that. The MSRP difference before the 2014's incentives is $610 ($50,155 for the '14 vs $50,765 for the '15.) That's with the $325 box-side steps added to the 2015 that aren't listed for a 5.5' box '14, and the optional larger fuel tank at $195 on the '15, so the net difference is really more like $90, and for that $90 you get Max Tow with the 3.55 diff (hopefully returning slightly better mileage than the 3.73), the LED lighting package, a driver-side A-pillar handle, blind-spot detection, the 120v inverter outlet, and hopefully a bit more payload with the lighter truck. Of course you get all the little rolling changes and upgrades to controls and such too.

The '14s have incentives and dealers want to clear that inventory, so if you need a truck this week that's probably the way to go. By the time I buy in early 2016 they'll likely have normal incentives on the aluminum truck.

Well said with the apples to apples comparison. The rebates I see advertised still aren't as high as the ones I got when I bought my 11 back in 11. I've been reading that because Ford is trying to manage inventory, they are putting less incentives the F150s than GM or Ram on their far newer trucks and still selling within a couple percentage points of last year month to month, so I don't know that the end of model 14 rebates are everything we'd normally expect because of how long the plants had to shutdown for the changeover to aluminum.

This was something I was wondering as well, is the 15 new enough to justify buying new or could I go get a last gen used or at a steal new and be just as happy with it. Honestly after driving a few 15s at the drive event, no way would I buy anything else. Loved every one I drove XLT to KR. Will be going after an XLT myself with grey interior. Jury is still out on 2.7 or 5.0 as I couldnt drive a 5.0. That 2.7 has some ***** though and the group there said they were seeing 25-26 hwy.

My guess is about $5k more when things settle down with demand for same truck. That's about the difference between the previous gen and this gen. So just projecting forward and guessing.

You know, I was all worked up about getting a new 2015 when they came out, but I have been looking around and there are killer deals to be had on real nice 2014's out there, and so maybe that's the way I'll end up going. Still waiting on the EPA numbers to come out, but even with improvement, the price of the 2014s may make up the incremental fuel costs...
