Default Should I still buy the 2015

So I sold my 2013 F150 Laredo supercrew privately in preparation for buying the new 2015 F150.

In the meanwhile I am driving a Ford Ranger, and have kind of fallen in love unexpectedly. I don't have a car payment, I can park in the city garages, and I don't care if it gets scratched. Not to mention insurance is next to nothing.

I love the 2015 F150 but am really debating wether its worth it. I am kind of enjoying driving a beater truck, and the extra cash in the bank. Am I going crazy?

You're not going crazy. You're probably doing the right thing. In my humble opinion, unless you can pay cash for at least half of it or better yet, the whole darned thing, you should buy used or drive the beater.

Again, just my opinion and I'm not preaching or judging....

I have enough to put down about 50% of the 2015 I want. I think Im going to drive the ranger until I can buy one outright.

If you have half the price of a new F150 in cash, you have more liquid savings than most Americans. By your quote above, you're thinking correctly. Whatever you decide, you're more than likely headed in the right direction. Nice job man....

Honestly, keep driving th ranger till you get back the itch of the new truck. You don't have to buy it and I'm sure you'll get a new truck once you know it's the right time

It sounds to me like you're on the path to becoming a great investor looking to the future. Take the 2013 sale money and invest it at 5-8% annual dividends or more in stocks of secure companies. If you decide to purchase the F-150 later, make a modest down payment, borrow money at 1.9% for monthly payments, and continue to gain the difference between the 1.9% and your investment income from the 2013 sale balance. This kind of personal finance management is what should be taught to our high-schoolers, but instead many will be hopelessly uninformed about such matters.

I'd agree with keeping the ranger and waiting until the 16's come out to work out any possible bugs. Having no payment can add up really quickly. Wish mine was paid off already. Lol.

Man drive that ranger until the wheels fall off and save your money!
The ONLY reason I bought my 2013 brand new when I did was my financial responsibility level is fairly low atm and I can pay it off and keep it for many years. After its paid off it will take the hounds of hell to make me buy brand new again. I do use it as a truck quite often but could probably get by without it if I had too, I'm planning on buying some toys down the road at which time it will be used much more.

If you don't NEED that 2015 then don't buy it! Keep driving the ranger, save your money and see where life takes you. Rangers are solid little trucks, my cousin has had 3 of them (one was a Mazda B3000 but same thing) and he just bought another one, used 2006 in great shape, loves them.
