Should the door unlock when I open it with the truck running?
I've got a 2016 XLT Screw.
The Auto Lock and Auto Unlock functions are enabled through the information display of the dash.
The doors do lock automatically once I reach about 10 MPH, and they unlock automatically after I put the truck into park, turn off the engine and then open the drivers door.
The problem is: If I leave the truck running in park and open the drivers door, the door stays locked (the lock button stays down). Then if I close the door, I get locked out with the truck running and I have to use the keypad to get back in. I've had the truck for more than a year and a half, and don't remember it operating that way.
I could be wrong but it seems to have started since I got my "Frozen Door Recall" done (which didn't fix the frozen door issue).
My question is: Should the door unlock when I open it with the truck running in park?

Yes, if you pull the handle of the driver's door to get out, that door should unlock. It should not open with the lock down, nor should it relock when you simply close it.

In cold freezing weather my bet is you are victim of frozen locks and latches. More common to open door go to shut and have bounce. I have experienced the locks frozen too. Meaning when in shut door now you are trapped. Try unlocking all doors or wait until warmed up 15-30 min and it will be fine. Generally I drive 15-20 miles and I am now able to use drivers door. Problem is from 2015-18.

The door should unlock when you open it. I had this happen yesterday. I’d been driving, jumped out to run up and knock on the door to get my son while some others waited in the truck. When I got back to the truck all the doors were locked EXCEPT the drivers door. As soon as I grabbed the handle the other doors unlocked. I had kept the engine running the entire time.

Thanks for confirming it. I wanted to double check to make sure some off the wall setting didn't get flipped.
I called the dealer and reported it. I can live with it for now, and get if fixed at the same time when they finally solve the recall blunder. Since I'm out of warranty I wanted to make sure they logged it as a result of the failed "frozen door lock recall" so I don't get charged later.

I do it all the time. I stop at the end of my driveway and leave the truck running and get out and put my trash cans in. When I get out all the doors and the tailgate stay locked but the drivers door stays unlocked. Its annoying because half the time I forget the tailgate stays locked and have to go back and hit the power lock button to unlock it.
