Default Shorter antenna?

Can anyone recommend a shorter antenna so it's not constantly hitting the top of my garage door? I suppose I could always cut it, but not sure what I'd use to seal the cut (maybe some liquid electrical tape)? Tried the amazon route and got burned by some crap from China that didn't fit. Thanks in advance.

Been discussed here before but i removed the ball off mine, cut 6" off with a dremel, tapered the end of the shaft a bit on the grinder, used jb weld to secure it back on. Paint it semi gloss black and back on. Did not notice any difference in reception.

I bought this one. Still has great reception and sits about even with the cab.

Cravenspeed Stubby on my 2016. No big reduction in reception, but I live in a big city (Houston, TX) I can get 30-45 minutes north before I start losing reception.

My mistake, should've used the search function as I'm sure this has been discussed several times. Thanks for the input.

I bought a Pilot aluminum shorty like I had on my Tacoma. Seems to work fine here in LA. No chance of getting ripped off in a car wash.

Bought the Cravenspeed Stubby for $25 @ Amazon. Whatever you use, be sure to put some anti-seize on the threads.

Same problem as you...Hated to cut mine because of distance stations.

I pulled up to where the antenna touched the garage door, put a piece of tape just under clearance and cut, put cut off piece in table vise not tight, used vise grips clamped tight, then tapped on vise grips to pop the ball off, tapered the end of remaining antenna, super glued ball back on, touched up with Black paint.

Plus 1.

And WARNING - Ford uses locktite on the OEM antenna. If you don't want to damage it during removal, use an open ended wrench rather than pliers. (I repainted my OEM Antenna b/c the damage was minor).

I got a 15" version off Amazon. If there is a difference in reception, I can't tell. Some people report whistle noises, but I don't have it.
