Several things eliminated from 2018 F150's
#21
Seems there are quite a few threads about Ford "skimping" on 2018 options. And believe me, I loved having the ambient color choices (so did the kids), but at least all the lights are still there. I have zero complaints and think there are lots of things better in 2018:
1) brighter, better tail lights (many complained that 15-17 were too dim
2) led fogs standard on 502a (this was a $300 mod to my 2017)
3) better looking updated headlight led rings - white like many other new cars
4) gloss body colored grill on sport - not flat plastic looking
5) much nicer tailgate with F150 insignia
6) B&O with sub is superior to the older Sony system
I do wish they would have made the license plate lights led, but at least that's a cheap mod.

Just curious, is the B&O only on Lariat and up? Maybe that is why no harness for the sub on Lariat, but there on the XLT.

I just got an '18 XL SCrew with the STX package 4x4 and it has the Sub Woofer connection, verified yesterday. (Have the carplay touchscreen too)

I noticed the F150 side vent (seen when you open the front doors) is black instead of chrome on the 2018 Lariats. Looks like the chrome is only on the Platinum/King Ranch/Limited trims. Small nit but another change nonetheless supporting the theme of removing 2018 "features".

Sounds like most of the XL & XLT's must have the subwoofer connections.
I wonder why the Lariat 501A does not, if you buy a 502A wouldn't it already have the subwoofer?
Seems strange they would only eliminate this from the Lariat 501A.
I have not checked mine yet, just basing this on the thread that I linked earlier, where another forum member had a 2018 Lariat 501A without the connections.
I hope I haven't given the impression that I am unhappy with my new truck, because I am not. These points were just some observations we have all made. The fact is I still love my new Lariat, subwoofer connection or not. LOL

Quite simple really. The B & O sound system has it's own harness, and the Kicker system is not an option on Lariat and up, so the XLT will have the harness for it.
Pre-15 model Kicker systems had their own harness for the Amp, Sub, and radio, two harnesses that was part of the kit, which is dealer installed. Just wondering if maybe the B&O uses a separate harness for it's sub and amps and why it isn't part of the factory one. The Lariat does use a different harness than XLT as it has many more options.
