Sensor behind front bumper? Adaptive Cruise Control
I have a 2016 Platinum, my front bumper was recently damaged so I decided to change it up and added the Barricade bumper and had it powder coater to match my truck. (Most parts on the exterior have been color matched)
While removing the front bumper, I found a rectangle shaped sensor that resides behind the driver side plastic bumper pad. There's not a location that matches this on the new Barricade front bumper, so I mounted it behind the lower part of the grill (assuming it could not be mounted behind metal as the original location had plastic in front of it).
Today when driving the truck, my adaptive cruise control would not sense cars in front of me, therefore not slow down which was a little terrifying haha, and on a couple of occasions the collision warning would go off even though there was nothing to trigger it.
Did I mount the sensor too high? Can it be mounted behind metal? Are there any solutions for this? I'll post a picture below of where I mounted the sensor.

Mounting it behind metal is a no-go. It's a RADAR unit. It also will need to be calibrated if you moved it, as well as adjusted for proper aiming. The field of view is narrow and fairly precise so proper alignment is critical to it working as designed.

That's it in a nutshell. Surprised replacement bumper manufacturer doesn't note that in the instructions. Or "warning, not compatible with Adaptive Cruise Control".

Why don’t you order the addictive desert design adaptive cruise control relocation bracket?

Now that I think about it, the location I mounted it seems better than the Addictive Desert bracket as it's closer to the original location. The only thing in front of it is plastic, just like the original location. Maybe I just need to have it recalibrated?

I put the add adaptive cruise bracket (to expensive) in my grill after installing my winch bumper set the adjuster in the middle and my cruise works fine.

hmm...wondering if I take the picture to a metal shop if they could fab up a bracket...just so ridiculous it cost that much.
