Seatbelt Chimes
#31
If I'm not mistaken, the OP's issue is starting the vehicle before putting his seat belt on, which creates a crap ton of unnecessary chimes. I do the same thing and it's annoying as hell. My wife's Mercedes has about 7 chimes that go off if you start the vehicle before buckling. There is no way to bypass that feature on her car other than using the fake belt latch.
I disabled the belt minder in my SD and it cut out all chimes, so can't help you there.

I'm not making any judgements (although not addressing the OP's question either), but I'm curious what's the big deal against the chimes? Seatbelt warning buzzers/chimes have been in U.S. vehicles for a really long time, and the F150 chimes are about the least bothersome I've ever had. What's the beef? (serious here, I'm just not getting it.)

On my last truck (2007 Ram 3500) there was a really annoying feature that if you had your door open and seatbelt off and had out of park the alarm would go off. I did this all the time backing up to hook up to my trailer.
I looked under the seat and found a 2 wire connector connected to the seat belt. I just jumpered those two wires and it was the same as if I had the belt on 100% of the time.
I'm not sure if its just a simple two wire connection on these trucks? Might be worth a look.

Like a lot of posters, I do always wear my seatbelt when I'm driving around, even if it's around the block. I don't put it on when I'm in and out of the truck hooking up a trailer, backing up to unload a heavy item from the bed with the tailgate down, trying to get the distance right to use a recovery strap, etc., and a lot of those tasks are ones where I could do without the distraction. Same reason there that I switched the e-brake-on reminder from gear-selection-based to speed-based: most of the time I'm in gear with the brake on, I know it, and I did it for a reason (e.g. making sure I got new reverse bulbs in correctly).
It's kinda like the key-in, ignition-off, door-open chime: I know the key's in the ignition, I put it there, and I just used it to turn off the truck. I don't need you to remind me. I do still think that I'd like a user-configurable "your phone is plugged in to the USB hub" chime, though, if I open the door with the phone still in the cubby.
I did flip the bits in ForScan to turn off the seatbelt minders, and it's less annoying if it takes me the extra 30 seconds to get the belt on and get underway, but it does still chime a handful of times when I start the vehicle and before I put it in drive.

Since I hardly notice the chimes, I took special note of them today. I generally start the engine before putting on my seat belt. This causes 4 chimes in roughly 4-5 seconds -- not at all what I would call bothersome or annoying, and certainly not "a crap ton of unnecessary chimes". After that, nothing more unless I put the transmission in drive and took my foot off the brake without the seatbelt latched. Then, as soon as I stopped, those second, more aggressive chimes also stopped, and didn't start again until I released the brake (still without latching the seat belt). With the transmission in park, the secondary chimes never happened. Seems like a very good implementation strategy to me, and one that shouldn't be an annoyance to any but the most high-strung and hot-tempered...
From some of the preceding comments, I can see where these chimes could bother some people using their truck for work. For the rest of us who have no good excuse to not just put on the seat belt, and speaking as somebody who has had his life saved by seat belts, I'd say stop whining and buckle up. It's no big deal. They're soft little chimes, not a blaring siren or Bronx cheer. Learn to live with it. It might save your life.

Unnecessary chimes make it harder for important ones to stand out, and they are somewhat annoying by design (they're supposed to get your attention).

Really, bro. Comprehension must be at a premimium. Ford literally allows you to disable the chimes while driving per the click/unclick method described in their actual owners manual. This my friend, now pay close attention everybody, allows me to auto start my truck and put my key in without it chiming. I wear my seatbelt, it just happens to be the last thing I do before I take off. What is ridiculous is the click/unclick method and Forscsn disable the chimes WHILE DRIVING, but not the chime if you put your damn key in before you buckle up. It's really not that hard to understand, but I've had to repeat this fact countless times now. Wild.
