Default Seat Belt and electronics?

So I have a bad rattle, thought it was my passenger door..had a buddy drive so I could locate the sound. Turns out to be the seat belt roll rattling...I'll let ford worry about that.
Just curious more than anything... in the pics, the coil were the belt rolls into has an electrical plug and so does the thing at the bottom that looks like a mini shock absorber...won't get to the dealer for awhile...any ideas what the electric gizmos are?

My best guess is that it is part of the tensioning system that activates in an accident.

Those are components of the seatbelt pre-tensioner and feedback for multi-stage airbags.
