The 2015+ 5.0's in the F150 are closer in spec to the Mustang 5.0's than the earlier ones (2011-2014) as well.

Does it have steel sleeved cylinders? No

Forged Rods
Forged Crank

They are great engines and love boost, but run great N/A as well. They respond well to bolt-ons and a tune.

Pretty sure the pre 2018 engines have cast in place liners, like the mustang 5.0 don't they?
2018 I believe are spray type, what your used to seeing on motorcycle engines etc.

seriouly tho..make sure you drive one and then drive the ecos. It is a high revving stang engine in a full sized truck. some like to have to rev for power, some dont.

like all engine they have quirks, burning oil and knocking but are generally reliable.

They don't have liners. The cylinder walls are plasma coated. Kinda like a quasi liner.

Google and Ford.com was broken when this thread was started lol.
And the owners manual went missing and the amount of pre-purchase research was zero.
Good luck in life.......wow.

I originally posted something different but deleted it but the post above ragged me off a little. Would the owners manual say how the block is made. I tried a search on this board but really didn’t find the info I needed.

Bought the truck with zero research? We’ve owned maybe 12 Ford trucks over the years at work. The last being a 2014 with a 5.0. I’ve also got a co worker who has owned Fords and owns a 2015 now.

Nothing worse than someone that tries to make a poster feel small and stupid. Yes the same questions gets asked over and over, do not read them or waste your time responding.

Thats good to know. I was under the impression that started in 13. I was reading Ford literature at the dealership one day and I thought it said they started plasma coating the 5.0 in 14
