Any iron remover will take those out. Easy and effective. I personally use carpro Iron-X. Then follow up with clay as described above.

Yep. If one is in the US then iron x, if you're in Canada at Napa they sell "liquid fallout remover" which sprays on. Works great. Either way don't try to remove with clay bar... Been there done that and it's a TON of work. I gave up on the clay bar after about 30 min. Got the spray stuff and turned an all day job into about 15-30 min.

One of the main reasons my second least favorite color to own is white (even though I've owned a couple in the past and have a Flex in white now) You'll get these every year. Clay bar will take them out but it will take some scrubbing.

I also recommend the Iron X for this. It is very common and easy to see on white paint. Everyone believes it is rail dust from transport, but I don't believe it is because I've rid my previous white vehicles of this many times and it will occur again. I believe it to be dust from brake rotors and other things on the roadway or even in the air.

This ^^ Neither of my F-150's have ever been on a train yet I get the spots after every winter. I also believe some of it is from the plows used to clear the roads, between that and brake particles there is a lot of steel and iron flying around to collect on your paint.

I had these same types of particles on my black paint when I originally got my truck. Not sure if it was rail dust, brake particles or just road contaminants. I washed, clay barred, meguires ultimate compound/polish with orbital buffer, then sealed the paint. I have not seen them again since I completed that process...

I think they mainly call it rail dust originally becuase most vehicles were shipped via train transportation and most just still call it that. Basically metal deposits from brakes and maybe other cars on the road, get stuck/melt so to speak to the clear coat and rust. My previous white vehicle had them all over at one point. It'll happen to any color vehicle, but white is the worst for detecting them.

On the plus side, watching an iron remover pull the contaminants out of the paint is oddly satisfying. When the color changes to purple, you'll realize there's far more contaminants in the paint than you can see.

I used the Iron-X over the weekend and was disappointed with the results. It did work on some of the heavy deposits but left the rust stain behind on the paint. claybar wouldn't touch it either. A good cut and polish did the trick though. Admittedly it was bad, previous owner must have never waxed this truck. Should be good to go now though, paint looks brand new and the collinite 845 will keep the particles from sticking so much.

When the spots are in there good, sometimes the iron remover won't cut it. Towards the beginning of the year, I decontaminated my girlfriend's white Civic, and there were a couple spots on the hood that I went back and resprayed several times after the initial spray and they still wouldn't come out.
