Default RPM drop during consistent acceleration

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what the problem could be.

Under light to moderate and consistent acceleration I get a few hundred rpm drop when in 3rd gear. The tachometer will slowly climb like normal then drop a few hundred rpms and then slowly climb to its shift point and go to 4th. I am giving it consistent pressure on the accelerator and it only does it in 3rd gear, most easily noticed when accelerating up a hill.

Took it in once to dealer they did the 5-4 TSB which it needed and I was hoping that would fix it but did not. (I think they were hoping that would fix it as well)

This is on a 2015 subercap 5.0.

Is it *actually* dropping RPM or is it just showing that it is doing so on the tach? Like, can you hear / feel the engine drop?

Could it be the torque converter locking? It does lock in 3rd, before shifting to 4th, causing the rpm's to drop midway through 3rd gear.

I assume 2015's do this. Last gen did, and was normal, although odd if you're used to a 4 spd.

My 3.5 EB does this too. I'm pretty sure it's the torque converter locking up and making the rpms drop. It happens right around 30 mph in 3rd gear in my truck.

You're describing the torque converter locking, it's perfectly normal.

Thanks everyone, appreciate it.
You would have thought the techs at the dealer could have figured that out and told me when I dropped it off with the same explanation.
