Anyone know about changing gear ratios? I have bigger tires and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with the shifting issues that keep coming up.

Thanks.
Truck is still at the dealer with the paperwork in the glove box, will report back once I get it back.
Talked to dealer today though, they believe that they overfilled the transmission fluid after the TSB work was done last month.

What gear ratio does your truck have?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but finally got my transmission looked at and thought I would share in case it’s helpful to others (or someone has another suggestion). It looks like they replaced my valve body and a handful of other less expensive parts, but did not solve the problem. I’m going try to take it back in next month when I’m out of town for a couple weeks and see if they’ll look at it again. The rough shifting is definitely better, but I don’t think the loud/aggressive clunk I hear/feel when taking it out of park is appropriate. What I thought was interesting was how the tech kept going after it when his initial diagnosis didn’t show anything. Thankful he didn’t give up quickly, but frustrated that it took 2+ weeks and the problem isn’t solved. Here’s the write-up they gave me:

RAN ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTIC TEST, CHECKED FOR DTCS NO DTCS WERE FOUND PRESENT IN THE SYSTEM, CHECKED TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, AND CONDITION FOUND LEVEL OK, CONDITION EXCESSIVELY DISCOLORED. PER WSM SYMPTOM CHART ROAD TESTED VEHICLE, AND MONITORED SHIFT SOLENOIDS PIDS NOTHING ABNORMAL WAS FOUND. BROUGHT VEHICLE BACK TO SERVICE BAY, REMOVED TRANSMISSION OIL PAN FOR FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND EXCESSIVE CLUTCH FRICTION SEDIMENT IN THE PAN, PROCEEDED WITH VALVE BODY REMOVAL FOR FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND A-CLUTCH CONTROL VALVE NOT MOVING FREELY DUE TO SCORING IN THE VALVE. PER WSM SPECIAL TESTING PROCEDURES PERFORMED AIR PRESSURE TEST USING A HIGH VOLUME (3/8” DIAMETER) RUBBER TIPPED BLOW GUN APPLIED 40 PSI TO THE A-CLUTCH PORT NOTICED A HISSING NOISE AT THIS POINT SUSPECT A LEAK IN THE INTERNAL HYDRAULIC PASSAGES. PER WSM REMOVED TRANSMISSION PLACED TRANSMISSION ON A BENCH FIXTURE AND PROCEEDED WITH TRANSMISSION DISASSEMBLY UPON INSPECTION FOUND DAMAGED A-CLUTCH PISTON SEAL ALSO FOUND (OVERHEATED) A-CLUTCH FRICTIONS. PERFORMED SMART COST CAP BASED ON THE INFORMATION ENTERED DECISION WAS TO REPAIR THIS POWER TRAINS ASSEMBLY.

Just got my '20 3.5L EB KR back after 4 weeks (2 weeks to diagnose, 2 weeks to repair) and it's driving the way it should (for now?). A summary of the repairs is as follows. When I asked why they didn't do this work last time, they said they have to follow protocol for warranty repairs. Apparently this translates to repair first and if the repair doesn't work, then replace. Had I been paying out of pocket, they would have replaced the first time through. I can imagine getting pretty upset paying for a repair and then a replacement shortly thereafter? Anyway, here's a summary of the work performed. He said it takes 24 man hours to do the work, but I think he underestimated.

VERIFIED CONCERN, FOUND HARSH ENGAGEMENT AND INTERMITTENT ERRATIC SHIFTS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. PERFORMED SELFTEST AND FOUND NO CODES PRESENT, CHECKED OASIS AND FOUND TSB 24-2101 TO ADDRESS CONCERN BASED ON SYMPTOMS. REPROGRAMMED TRANSMISSION SOLENOID STRATEGY, PERFORMED ADAPTIVE DRIVE CYCLE AND FOUND CONCERN STILL PRESENT. PERFORMED VALVE BODY OVERHAUL, PERFORMED ADAPTIVE DRIVE CYCLE AND CONCERN IS STILL PRESENT. REPLACED CDF DRUM, FLUSHED TRANS COOLER AND TORQUE CONVERTER, PERFORMED ADAPTIVE DRIVE CYCLE AND VERIFIED CONCERN IS NO LONGER PRESENT.

The parts list on the repair includes ~$1k of parts in transmission oil, hub assembly, lots of nuts, bolts and assemblys (I was told CDF drum, valve bodies and clutches were part of this). Labor was another $3600 and the loaner was $500 bringing the total to ~$5k. That's warranty pricing ... had I been out of pocket, would have been $6,500 (30% more). Hope this helps, best of luck to those of you still fighting this issue.

I just got my 2019 back yesterday (97,000 miles) after over two months at the dealer. Repair order is 4 pages long, but essentially duplicates with what @pshrop has listed (reprogram, then valve body and then CDF drum). Periodic rough shifting was present since I bought my truck with 45,000 miles on it. I brought it in after getting a few (2023 and 2024) F-150s as rental cars for my day job and noting how "normal" they felt (oddly just turned in a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer yesterday morning with 10k on the odometer that felt as rough as my F-150 did), I took it in for service.

Short story is that I drove my F-150 home from the dealer last night (250 miles), and the new CDF has made for a completely different vehicle. It now feels like those rental F-150s with 4 digits on their odometers, which is a good thing.
