Rotordrew's '16 Magnetic Platinum build thread
 

Thought I might start one of these threads since I learned so much from all of you, maybe this will help noobs like me down the road.

I came from a '15 Golf TDI. I was looking at going with a Raptor once they came out, but the TDI buyback stuff came out, and a fully loaded Raptor is north of 70k, so I got a killer deal on a Platinum. This is my first truck and I'm so glad I got her. Price was 54k+TTL. Not sure if it's a good deal but seemed good to me. I bought the 7y/100k warranty for around 1200 and they threw in lifetime free basic maintenance.

First, I bought a stubby antenna because the stock one hit my garage when I pulled in. I haven't noticed any problems with reception. Quite happy with it.

Then I got the rhino liner done and clear bra then installed the bed extender.

Put in the diode dynamics LED fogs. So bright and great light output. It's not "spraying" everywhere.

Most recent thing I've done is swapped for the trailer mirrors. My salesman called me and told me that some guy had bought a platinum and wanted the regular mirrors. So I went over to his house and we did a even swap. Pretty lucky if you ask me. Just put on the new painted mirror covers, just waiting to get the clear bra put on the caps.

To come in the next month or so is Fox 2.0 rear shocks (this week), front Fox coilovers to level it out, most likely going with the XD Heist 20x9 +18. I will either do a Corsa or Roush exhaust, haven't decided yet. Also, if I can get the platinum banner off, I'll be getting it wrapped in vinyl. I'll be doing some Forscan stuff, just haven't got around to ordering the module. Enjoy the pics, I'll be adding more as I go on. Man I love this truck.

great looking truck! do the led fog bulbs match the led heads well? if so do you have a link to the bulbs and some nigh shots of the fogs?

Is that second pic Magnetic? It looks black, or maybe Blue Jeans....

FWIW, I kind of like the long antenna. If it hits something like a beam in a parking garage, I know I can't fit under it.

Looks good, I could tell by the backgrounds you weren't too far from me.

Also it doesn't have the platinum rims.

Same.... My Platinum seems to have the same rims.
