Default Rock chips and you...

I posted a while back about all the rock chips that had started to rust on the bumper of the 16 f150 I just bought. I still got a killer deal even if it does need painted, but with how crappy/brittle the paint is on our trucks, is the $550 to paint it really worth it if it’s just going to happen again or am I better off throwing an aftermarket front bumper on?

I LOVE my truck, but at the rate it’s picking up rock chips it will be primer colored before it’s paid off.

How do you guys deal with the chips?

if you that worried or **** about as I am, You can get your vehicle ceramic coated and also get paint protection film on it.

Yep... film and ceramic if you're that worried about it. Otherwise, my Fab Fours front end is holding up quite well. It's up to you if you want to drop $3K on one.

You could probably pick up a factory chrome bumper for less. Much more durable than paint in my experience.

The only way to protect any painted metal bumper is paint protection film. Ceramic coating itself will not offer much protection at all. Another option would be color matched rock guard.

I plan on having Line-X spray my bumpers and grille at some point. Not only will it cover any defects but it will offer protection moving forward.

Did you ceramic coat first then protection film after or paint protection film first and ceramic coat after?
I want to get both but don't know which order would be ideal?

Thanks, radrcanada
