Road trip with a Ford Edge and fillups/why I love the F-150
Drove with a good friend of mine from my place in Edmonton Alberta to his place in Brandon Manitoba. That's about 1150km's, or 715 miles. He was in his Ford Edge and I was in my truck. After about 5-6 hours of driving, about halfway there, he calls me and says he's stopping at the gas station coming up to fill up. We pull into the gas station, he goes to the pump and I just pull off to the side of the station and walk up to him to chat. He says "You're not filling up?" I laughed and told him I have over half a tank. Fair enough, I have the 36 gallon tank so I hold twice the fuel.
We carry on and after about another 5 hours we're almost there. But he calls me again saying he's stopping for gas because it's getting too close for comfort. We have about 120km's left to go and my gauge DTE reads 155km's left.
Same thing, he goes to pump, I pull over. But this time he was annoyed, especially since this time I got him riled up about stopping twice for gas when I walked up to him and said "Damn that little thing burns gas! I'd be there by now if it wasn't for you." LOL
We got to his place and spent a few days there hanging out, and I still drove a few places for pizza and beer, still without filling up until the day I left to come back home. He got his Edge because he needed something to haul around 2 sets of hockey gear, one being goalie stuff. I really like the Edge and might get one for my wife. But now my friend is considering getting the exact same truck setup as mine but with a bed cover for his gear. I gave him one last stab as I left saying "At least I'll get home faster since I won't have to stop this time." haha
I go on lots of long trips, which is why I've racked up almost 39k in 11 months, and I absolutely love that there isn't anywhere I've driven to yet that I couldn't make in one tank of gas!
Just thought I'd share a bit of a funny story and show love to the '15 2.7 EB
EDIT: I have no idea what model/trim/engine he has, all I know is that it's black :P And for the trip, we did 100-105km/h the whole way (60-65mph) on slightly slippery roads.

i love the 36 gal tank for that reason alone! I dont like running low on long trips through the mountains / prairies, but at least I get to plan and pick the cheapest gas along the way.
now... his Edge probably gets better mileage than your truck, but yes, with the bladder-size tank, it needs filling up more

I'm glad I ordered my 3.5EB with the 36 gallon tank. I can drive from my house to northern MI (310 miles each way), back and forth from the hotel to the ski resorts, and home again w/o having to stop once for gas. In my Frontier I would fill up when I got there, and then again just outside Detroit on the way home to Ohio.
Went skiing in Canada last weekend too and it was a longer trip and only had to put in $15 to make it home. Let me avoid filling up for 80 cents/gallon more vs. back home.

Dealing with a similar issue myself now. I have been driving around north carolina and maryland this last week in a rental escape. It has a 15 gallon tank-which would be fine if i hadnt averaged 22 mpg over about 1200 miles. Had to stop for gas a half dozen times this week-extremely annoying.
