Rename this sub-forum to "2015-2017 Ford F-150"?

I would not say a face lift is a new generation. This change is like a 2015 to 2016 chevy. I doubt they call that a new generation truck? Besides we should wait to see what is actually changed. Tails and gates might swap right onto the older trucks.
Had the grill not changed at all would we be calling it a new generation truck? Engines often change mid generation.
Maybe if this forum is busy enough we will see a few less 5.0 vs xxx threads? There are a few threads on the 18 now but in a few weeks they will be forgotten until we start to see more real information on them.

Well that's the thing, these vs thread disasters will get even worse with EB 10-speed vs 5.0 6-speed, diesel vs 5.0, 6-speeds vs 10-speeds etc etc. So instead of the fighting between 5 engines it's gonna be 9! Then new light mods and old light mods, new LED's vs old LED's etc etc... Mods are gonna be busy for sure..

Ford has stated that this is a mid-cycle refresh. So it will be more like the "13.5" gen.

I just think the forum will get messy.
Right now we already have lots of variations as it is.
3.5L
2.7 EB
3.5 EB with 6-speed
3.5 EB with 10-speed
5.0
With 2018 we'll have
3.3L
3.5L
2.7 EB with 6-speed
2.7 EB with 10-speed
3.5 EB with 6-speed
3.5 EB with 10-speed and stop/start
5.0 with 6-speed
5.0 with 10-speed and stop/start
3.0 Diesel
We went from 5 configurations to 9, almost double.
And even with head/tail lights, which are popular threads, we'll have not only halogen and LED, but 2 of each for old and new style.
It's gonna be a mess.

Not sure where you're getting this info from. The base 3.5 is gone, and the 6 speed is gone except on the 3.3L. It will be as such:
3.3L/6 speed
2.7L/10 speed
5.0L/10 speed
3.5L EB/10 speed
3.5L EB HO Raptor/10 speed
3.0L PSD/10 speed
It's a minor refresh with some powertrain adjustments. The frame is the same, the interior is the same, the body is mostly the same. When we went from 04-08 to 09-14 the truck got a new frame, new interior, new engines etc so it was considered a full redesign even though the body shared some panels with the previous generation. Ford is essentially doing the same amount of engine enhancements that they did in 2011, and the same amount of visual adjustments that they did in 2013 with the 12th generation trucks. Neither updates were considered a generational change.

^Beat me to it. The 3.3 is replacing the 3.5 NA. And all other engines suppose to have the 10spd transmission.
Agree that the 2018 model this is not a new generation of F150. IMO, a new generation is often a MAJOR change in body AND engine. The body remain practically the same with the exception of minor things such as the front end and tailgate. 3.5 EB will not change, 2.7 EB has minor "update," 5.0 will not change (may be wrong on this one), and two new engines 3.0 diesel and 3.3 NA.
So really the only thing that is "new" entirely is the diesel motor and 3.3 NA. Everything else is pretty much the same.
At least that's how I see it.

So it sounds like it's fair to say we all agree that MY2018 is not a new generation (and wiki is not a credible source on this), but it sounds like the OP still thinks that there are enough changes to make a new subforum. Blackboost, I see your point on this, as keeping it the same may create confusion when talking about the different engines that were refreshed, but I also think that splitting into 2 subforums would create confusion. For instance, there will be double posts everywhere about the common issues that Ford probably didn't fix for 2018, such as excessive wind noise, misaligned doors, driveshaft clunks, etc, while we already have plenty of threads on those issues here that 2018 buyers could read. Also, I'm sure some 2018 buyers that trade in a 2015+ truck would wander back into the 2015-2017 forum anyway when posting about their 2018 truck.
I still think we should keep a single subforum for each entire generation and not separate 2015-2017 from 2018+.

On the "Wiki is not a source note" that I have seen twice now -
That's correct, but that doesn't mean you can't use the references cited at the bottom of the page. That's how to use Wikipedia properly.
