Default Remote Access Question?

Just got my 2016 502A truck with the Ford Remote Access Alarm. I can start the truck with the IPhone app but not with my factory supplied FOB's.

Shouldn't I be able to remote start with them as well? The Ford Remote Access was installed by dealer before I took delivery as part of the deal. However, I know they had trouble installing it and had to call for help. I was told they plugged in modules with the truck on but not running and the modules have to be plugged in with the truck off then turned on for the computer to find them.

Could they have messed something up? Need some help and more information before I ask them about it and possibly hear that it is working as designed!

Definitely doesn't sound right. I installed the RMU myself and did it with the truck off. Activation was done remotely through Fairway Ford (where I bought the RMU) and the app and fobs work independently of each other.

Absolutely something isn't right, your factory fob should work.

Your dealer's tech first plugs in the VSS, cycles the trucks ignition once so it recognizes it and then plugs in the Remote Access RMU to the VSS. With the truck off the tech then runs a series of setups and tests to enable Remote Access and register you in the Ford PTS system.

I would go back to the dealer or you can even call the Support Hotline. 1-800-FORD-KEY. Listen for the prompts and select 5.

Not to hijack, but I have a 2016 on order and have been thinking about getting this added on. However, there's very little info available about the system (or at least I have t been able to find much).

Those of you that have it, do you like the system? How do you use it most?

Appreciate any/all info!

Thanks!

Are you talking saying that the truck came from the factory with remote start and now those fobs are not working to remote start it but everything else on them works?

Hit lock first, then start twice. Catches everyone at least once.

Yep, have to lock first then remote start. I thought something was wrong with my truck when I first got it as well.

Have a look here.

It took a while but I use it more than I use the factory fob now. The range is virtually limitless. The other nice thing is because of being tied with the Vehicle Security System, if anyone attempts to break into the truck or it gets hit, no matter where I am I'll get a text message or email.

Thank you! Feel stupid but so glad it is not a problem especially since they took two days to install this. Worked like a charm!
