Before I let the monkey's tear my truck up and try to fix it with duct tape.... I'd just as soon let it burn to the ground, I have insurance, and a $50 deductible, -0- fks given

I came here hoping to find that you knew something, thanks. With the information you have, do you see anything concerning about what they are doing? Is it straight forward or is there an elevated risk of a tech screwing it up? Also, I have wires running through the door sills (coax, power, signal, etc.) should I be concerned about those or provide the tech additional information about what they are/where to disconnect them?
I would not hesitate to allow the dealer to perform the recall.
As was already mentioned there aren't any OEM parts required other than tape that is obtained locally.

The rework procedure is very well documented (8 pages) with color photos to include a video the techs can watch of the entire recall being performed.

- Recall Date: AUG 31, 2018
- Recall Title: CARPET SHIELDING AND INSULATION REWORK
- NHTSA Recall Number: 18V568
- Ford Recall Number: 18S27
- Recall Description: CARPET SHIELDING AND INSULATION REWORK. FRONT SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER DEPLOYMENT DURING A CRASH EVENT CAN RESULT IN EXCESSIVE SPARKS GENERATED BY SUSPECT PRETENSIONING DEVICES. IN SOME CASES, THIS COULD RESULT IN THE IGNITION OF MATERIAL IN THE B PILLAR AREA, INCLUDING CARPET AND INSULATION. SOME REPORTS INDICATE MELTING, SMOKE OR FIRE THAT SELF EXTINGUISHED OR WAS LOCALIZED, OTHERS THAT PROPAGATED. AS OF AUGUST 24, 2018, FORD IS AWARE OF 17 REPORTS IN THE U.S. OF SMOKE OR FIRE RELATED TO THIS CONDITION. FORD IS NOT AWARE OF ANY REPORTS OF ACCIDENT OR INJURY RELATED TO THIS CONDITION. THERE ARE 2 COMPONENT MANUFACTURERS AFFECTED JOYSON (PREVIOUSLY TAKATA) FOR 2015 TO 17 MODEL YEARS, AND ZF FOR 2018 TO 19 MODEL YEARS.
- Risk to Safety: A FIRE IN THE B-PILLAR AREA FOLLOWING DEPLOYMENT OF THE FRONT SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS MAY PROPAGATE WITHIN THE VEHICLE AND MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY.
- Remedy Program: OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL AND INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A FORD OR LINCOLN DEALER TO HAVE INSULATION MATERIAL REMOVED FROM THE B PILLAR TRIM, MODIFY THE BACK INTERIOR PANEL FOR REGULAR CAB ONLY, REMOVE REMNANTS OF WIRING HARNESS TAPE IN THE B PILLAR AREA, AND APPLY HEAT RESISTANT TAPE TO THE CARPET AND ITS INSULATION. THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE.
- Status: 11 - RECALL INCOMPLETE
- Manufacturer Notes: TO CHECK FOR NON-SAFETY-RELATED PROGRAMS APPLICABLE TO YOUR VEHICLE, SEE HTTP://WWW.FORD.COM/ OR CALL YOUR FORD DEALER.

Don't replace the pretensioners that throw sparks... Just pull out the insulation

Let’s not deal with the source of the problem. Let’s just put duct tape on the carpet around the area and hope for the best.
Might be right up there with their failed frozen door latch recall.
I wonder if new trucks on the assembly line are getting an improved pretensioner.

Official recall calls for 3M 3340 foil tape see here:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/3M-2-5-in-W...C-Tape/4009889
or Nashua® 324A
Dealers were instructed to purchase the tape themselves via lowes, home depot or amazon. This is a delivery hold so yes dealers would be smart to fix their own first since they cant sell until they do....2015-2018 MY Regular Cab with Back Panel Taping:
Remove sound deadener from B-pillar trim, remove debris, and apply foil tape to carpet edge and back panel edge
2015-2018 MY Regular Cab Without Back Panel Taping:
Remove sound deadener from B-pillar trim, remove debris, and apply foil tape to carpet edge
2015-2018 MY SuperCrew Cab:
Trim sound deadener from B-pillar trim, remove debris, and apply foil tape to carpet edge
