Default Rear bumper material

What's the metal section of the rear bumper made of on these trucks? Aluminum or steel?

My sister offered for us to park our car at her place while we are traveling for Thanksgiving. We wouldn't all fit in her car for the trip to the airport, so we took the truck. She drove. Usually drives a mini, this is her first time driving a full-size truck. Lets just say it was a little scary, and not without a minor incident.

She ended up backing up into a rock wall. It was dark out and there was a lot going on... easy enough to do, I suppose. I don't have a great pic of it.

Anyway - rust an issue? Something I need to have repainted before winter?

Thank you.

If you have it fixed, make sure you have the color only applied in the damaged areas so it will blend with the rest of the paint. The whole bumper section will need re-cleared, but I would not want everything painted with color as it may not match with nearby body panels.

Chromed steel.

FYI.....Only women who grew up in rural America should drive trucks.

Check eBay. It may be cheaper to buy the one side and bolt it on versus having it fixed. They're about $100-$125 a side.

I agree with Scott91370. These bumpers are much less expensive than I expected, even from the dealer, and they're easy to change.

Truth! My girl is a country singer but lives in the city and even SHE agrees lol She hated driving my 2015 Explorer as it was too big (only drove it on highway/long trips) and she won't even touch the steering wheel of the new F150.

Hell.. even I hate driving the F150! It's nice but it really made my Explorer feel like a nimble sports car in comparison.
