2015 F150 SCAB Review
I have been an avid reader and occasional commenter on this forum since I decided to purchase new F150. I ordered a 2015 Green Guard, Super-Cab 4x4 Lariat, Camel Leather Interior, 502A Package, 3.5L Eco-Boost Engine, 3.31 Axle, Single Panel Moon roof, Trailer Tow Package, Tele-Folding Mirrors, FX4 Package, Tailgate step, 36 Gallon Tank, Integrated Trailer Controller, Technology Package, Spray-in Bed Liner and LT275/65R18C Tires. My truck took a little less than three months to get from time of ordering. I also managed to get the truck for $500 less than Invoice or about $6500 less than MSRP, the sticker price. What I would like to do is provide a bunch of pictures and give a brief review after driving it about 1000 miles. My former truck was a 2005 4x4 Toyota Tundra with the 4.7L V8.
First, I love my new truck. Engine is amazing, very smooth and hardly ever downshifts, but when it does it has plenty of power. I routinely drive up from 4000 to 8000 feet up and over mountain passes so this is something to mention. I am still taking it easy but did play with the Sport mode in the transmission and that really makes the truck get up and go. My MPG so far with mostly highway driving, but with a lot of altitude to climb up and down has been just under 20. Seats are very confortable and the heating and cooling features are very nice. I am very short (5’4”) and some trucks I have sat in were not short people friendly in terms of comfort. Although I have read complaints, I have none with the Sony sound system. A vast improvement over what I had in my Tundra or in my Volvo with a 600 Watt 10 speaker system. As for the Sync system, so far it has understood what ever I have said. Still have a long way to go before I am comfortable with it but my expectations are much better now that I have tried it. My wife’s Subaru’s voice navigation system has never understood a thing I have said. The ride is the best I have ever had. Quiet and firm. We drove about 50 miles on dirt roads and the wash boards were hardly noticeable. No squeaks, air noise and moon roof was quiet when closed. 4WD system worked great.
Backseat in the Super-Cab is very comfortable too, helps having the front seat forward (remember I am short), but adults should be fine back there. I already like the flat loading floor and storage space. I can fit two mountain bikes behind the seat. The power windows in the back are nice too. I have purchased Weather Tech floor mats and their mad flaps. The payload was a little less than hoped for, 1686 lbs., but is still 400 lbs. more than my Toyota. I plan on using the truck to haul my “Four Wheel Camper” which weighs just less than 1000 lbs. fully loaded. All loaded with passengers and gear I should still be under max payload. I was 200 to 300 lbs. over max payload with my Tundra. To improve the ride I have purchased Air Lift Load Lifter 5000 Ultimate Adjustable Air Helper Springs to keep the truck level under load. I had the Firestone Air Bags on my Tundra and they work very well.
There have been many discussions on payload. Here are my best educated guesses on what options weigh. I determined these by looking at other trucks posted as well as mine. Lariat 502A Package weight 163 lbs., 44 lbs. for single panel moon roof, 44 trailer tow pkg., 15 mirrors, 22 FX4, 23 Tailgate Step, 88 extended tank, 5 technology pkg., 44 spray-in bed liner (6.5 ft. bed) and 36 for the LT tires. This is assuming the published weights and GVW of 7050 lbs. There was also some discussion about the skid plates used in the FX4 package. The engine and transfer case are aluminum, not plastic as reported elsewhere. However the fuel tank skid plate is plastic. Might look into a replacement for that one. There were also some comments on the Home-Link programing and range. I successfully programed three buttons, two garage doors and my drive though gate. Range was pretty good, on the order of 100-150 ft.
Enjoy the pictures. If anyone has questions or comments I will be checking back regularly.

2 dirty mountain bikes in that nice leather interior?
And they actually fit in a SCab without ripping up anything?
Would love to see a pic; I've never thought of trying it with ours ...

Here is a pic with two bikes. I have the seats pretty far forward but since I am short it is no issue. Probably work better with rear seats removed. I was able to shut the door by rotating the front tires. The larger tire mountain bikes probably would not fit. These have the older 26 inch tires. However, if you remove the front tires on the larger tire bikes it might fit two. One bike fits easy which is nice for truck/bike commuting.

I'm waiting for my Supercab as we speak. This review is great insight. Question for you. From the first pics I have seen of the backseat I considered the rear head rest to be in intrusive when it comes to visibility. Is that why you removed them?
