Rear back up camera quality. Is it bad or do I have a dud?

Planning on trying this myself. Just trying to really justify the $100/pr cost of the of the Diode Dynamics XP80 bulbs.

I'd say my 2015 is on par with the wife's CX-5 which is good. At night neither one work well and I prefer to just ignore the camera and back up the old fashioned way by using my mirrors and turning my head around.

Interesting, I feel like mine is pretty on par with my wife's 16' CX-5 night or day. I'll have to look closer next time.

I'd very interested in the results ... was sort of toying with the idea myself.

You'd think 5 years later we'd have amazing HD cameras, unfortunately Ford seemed to take the route that 5 years later they found cheaper cameras......not better cameras........
Same! My 2013 in-rear view mirror was HD quality. The 2016 is so hazy I thought the plastic cover was fogged, but it wasn't.

Mine works great at night. I didn't expect it to.

Maybe the LED backup lights on my Lariat are the difference?
Backup up my driveway at night, all I see is a red glare from my taillights and vague outlines of objects. When i'm CLOSE to them, it's much better.

If all you see is red, check your reverse lights. Mine seem to light up pretty good.

Same complaints here, my 2013 had a much clearer picture in the rear view mirror than the crappy resolution on my 2016.
Wonder if guys with the big nav screens have a better picture? Thinking poor resolution might be low quality screen on the 3" screen in the radio compared to an actual reverse screen like in my 2013.

I do have a platinum with the big screen, so I also have LED lights... maybe that makes a difference.
